When the models arrive (Covid delayed I’m sure) we’ll soon see if the light boards are removable. Then picking off the side number plates some loco number changes could be possible between VR and V/Line on the 3rd series.

Time will tell.

Here’s hoping there’s no repeating the numbers of the Austrains run. This way, I’ll buy more.

First series would be nice. Real life 1ft longer 1st series scaled down to HO would be SFA on the model. Tool the battery box separately and just get it done.

Figured I’d ask, since we’re probably not going to be looking at any in this Covid space before 2023.

"Austrains NEO" reworked VR PL series of carriages have arrived. The keen observer will note a green and yellow PL car in the pic, SDS notes this is being considered for a future release and at present is a 'work in progress' of the 1951
Centenary Jubilee Train. Full details at https://www.facebook.com/SdsModels/

Hi all,

Does anyone know if the marker lights are supposed to work on the recently released 800 class? I have purchased class leader 800 in tangerine.
Model runs beautifully and headlight works well but no marker lights? I assume that being the early years with the marker lights mounted on the railings that they are not wired up and only the later year models with the marker lights body mounted are wired up?

Excellent news update.
A pity the T class is underrepresented in V/Line in their T4 and T5, by atleast 3 locos of each, AND WTF - no H class in V/Line.Shocked

Rerun perhaps?? That aside, can’t wait for further news on the Y class.

Hi all,

I have added a question to an existing thread on the SDS Models' SAR 800 Class, but seeing as older threads don't get bumped up by adding new posts, I will ask here as well:

Now that the SDS Models engine has become available, I would like to buy one for my collection in a version that is fitting for the late 1950s and first half of the 1960s. Looking at infomration supplied by Allan in the other thread, did SDS Models make the grade when it comes to depicting the difference in tangerine tone between the 800 - 805 and 806 - 809 respectively?
And secondly, if 804 was the first one of the series to be painted in "Mustard Pot" colours in 1966, everything before then would have been Tangerine. So if I want a pre-1966 engine, it would have to be SDS no. 001 or 002, is that right?

BTW, how's the quality of the model anyway?

Thank you kindly,

Rocko

Can't answer your first query but I have purchased class leader 800 in Tangerine and it runs perfectly. A terrific model.

Any further update on the 81 or D3 ?

There is a real difference that can be seen between the tangerine version of a 800 and the later colour on the models, the Tangerine is a bit darker than the the others. As for running, they run nicely but they lack a decent bit of weight in other words they are a bit light, but I have added some extra weight to them a piece of 3 mm thick strip of steel just above the motor and a similar strip on top of the circuit board all suitably insulated though to stop shorts. And it not only improves the pull but also makes the pick ups better as well.

Hi Guys

Does anyone know what is the cut off date to buy the SDS T Class models at the discount prices?  I tried the sales email but have received no reply.

That’s a very good question my man.
I hadn’t considered when the pre paid offer would expire.
That said, hopefully SDS apply the same approach Auscision do with notification via their Facebook page to let people know where they stand and timeframe for sorting the options still available.

Eventually got a reply from Steven:

Hi Shelton,

Thanks for your email. Cut off will be once we have a delivery date with product enroute (mid 2021).

Difficulties in China presently as their production deadlines are being decimated with no labour available and skilled labour even harder to find.

All the factory owners we are presently talking with expect even worse staff shortages after the Chinese New Year period, with less people returning to the Dongguan region.

Presently it’s impossible to be more specific, unfortunately.

We may receive a sample of the new gearing we have made for the T before CNY, but no certainties.

Kind regards,

Steven

Haha, thanks for the tip, I just ordered and paid for mine! At least they are covered for, with another six months to go, probably 'at least', it will allow time for maybe an extension to the order. I've had the C class diesels ordered and paid for for just over a couple of years now, and I just extended that order as they 'must be close'!
