Trying to reply to a post but RP is wigging out on me
The allegations (which are apptly being aired again by C7 tonight) are that the Victorian Government is paying airline workers up to $6500 per month to sit at home.
The extra allegation that these people are ALSO receiving jobkeeper was made after the story first went to air.
It seems that they were hired on contracts to do (I think) hotel quarantine work but were not required but they got paid anyway. It has also been claimed that the contracts were recently renewed for a further 3 months
I saw the original story on C7 news but as I posted above i have not been able to find a link to it
So there seem to be 2 issues, the payment by the state government to people for not working and the alleged rorting of jobkeeper
I thought that Jobkeeper was paid to the employer who then kept paying staff. I would assume (always dangerous, especially where politics is concerned) that if an employee got another job they would be obliged to report that fact to their employer who would in turn be obliged to inform the feds. But then again I also understand that Jobkeeper is a one in - all in scenario so who knows, not me that is for sure.
