To keep this on topic, we have a train in today but too cold and wet to go out again for numbers of locos, it should be G520 and 8178..
Y115
According to my sources the locos are 8101, G540 and XR559

edit: G520 and 8178 are at South Dynon looking like they're headed for Gemco.

Here they are in the Portland siding after unloading.

Couple of hopefully quick questions. How long does it take for them to unload a 40 wagon train down there, given there's a bit of shunting involved, and second question, does the signaling on the line allow for follow on moves, and would there be enough room for one train to be unloading, and another to be at the yard limits, or even in the yard, waiting to unload?

Five to six hours to unload.  We've had two grain trains in at the same time, last time was 2017 when SSR C's were here and a PN train too.  We've also had two grain trains and one mineral sand train here at the same time.

Thanks Y115 and through Heywood at 03:30 Mum said they didn't blow the horn.. Shocked at the level crossing ! Perhaps they are trying to sneek past Mum's joint without her seeing or hearing them. Razz

Is there many road trucks carting down there at the moment lads? Heard a little story that a heap of B Doubles have been carting out of Lillimur and straight to the port. Dunno which port though The siding out there only holds 20 wagons so its quicker to just load trucks. Trains in Nhill nearly every day for the past week or so. G520 XR and a BL in this morning.

Correct wobert, as it turns out I have a contact on site there and yes outloading Barley to Portland, loading a ship.
A huge amount of grain onsite and they haven't even started stripping wheat yet.

Well you will like this one YM, my man on site, who is actually a girl, said all outloading will be done by trucks because the
silo's ( cement ones ) have been condemned. So short of trucking grain to another GrainCorp site, Portland is the next obvious place.

Morning troupes, hope everyone had a good day yesterday, we certainly did.

Train through Heywood at 03:45 this morning,  so all things being equal an early arvo departure will be on the cards.

BigShunter.

so trucking grain from Lillimur to Portland, a good 3hr trip and more than likely the main route through Edenhope to Casterton would be a Swine of  a road for a truck.
You'll have to google map that, it won't post properly.

It must have been a really quiet morning, I could hear the rumble of the engines at home at 6.30. I’m about 2km away from the Port.

It was about 0630 when the local crew arrived and moved the train up to the second bridge, they started work at the usual time around 0745.
Trains for the next three days (even on Friday).
