Definitely the best MR Exhibition this year!!
Ha Ha

San Mateo signals was there and along came a new trader (to me) who has sorted out the electronic side of signaling using relays and detection systems.
If you want to use a servo come see David at drmow.net or david@drmow.net
Something for everyone here and wide open spaces, good coffee and great friends to be made or to chat with
Cheers

Enjoyed the exhibition greatly as a first time visitor. Some new models to be released, some secret ones too! Hall was well lit, lots of space and not too many visitors to feel crammed.

Glad I could help with the N scale ones at least Smile

Had a good walk around there on Saturday.  Ended up with an IDR W class as well as some N scale goodies.
Seeing how it went i'm a little disappointed that the Stawell guys pulled the plug so early for this year.

Yeah , had no intention of buying anything, but when I saw the W class, that was the end of that.  Oh well. As a bloke standing a couple of meters away from me said he wasn't interested in that era..... but it was so cute. One way of putting it. I was actually trying to keep my powder dry for the D3 later in the year, and the J class got me rather excited. As Comtrain said, the San Mateo stuff was pretty impressive, for a future date.

So the Stawell guys have pulled the pin, pity I really enjoy that one, and its not so damn far.

I heard that the SES have declared that it is unsuitable for public gatherings due to their work with covid and other rescue work they are involved in. One of the traders mentioned this at Diamond Creek.

More importantly, those W class...do they come with an engine that fails within the first hour, like the prototype did? Maybe the manufacturer could have just made a shell to save money while being as useful as the real ones? Anything more than a static exhibit would seem quite untrue to prototype!

The IDR W class is a wonderful model in my eyes. Quiet mech, consistent performer and well put together. Highly recommended purchase.

Agreed. I was stunned how good it's low speed performance was, especially when I put a decent train behind it.

Quiet and pulls a decent load? Nothing at all like the prototype!!

All 3 IDR models are excellent running locos, with really good low speed running. I have an X200 and 70 class with stay alive and they run very nicely. The Victorian W class is a great model.

I did buy a very expensive version which does just sit around doing nothing.
But I wish I had waited. The IDR version is a masterpiece!!  If VR had copied her in 1:1 they would be still running Very Happy
