    Location: Werribee, Vic
    BG at Werribee has re-opened fully, with driver training by PN and V/Line in recent days. Expect things to return to normal any day if they haven't already. They have some cleanup still to do, but will be probably done and all gone in a month or 2, with the on-track works seemingly complete.

    Works continuing at hoppers with bridge beams lifted over the tracks in the past week's shutdown. Works on the underpass at Aircraft finaly underway also.

    At Lilydale, two complete piers now stand on the up side of the line, south of the Maroondah Hwy LX. There may be more but going through in peak hour as dusk was settling made it awkward to tell for sure. At least one piling rig is still working south of John St and there appeared to be a larger number of cranes there than the last time I checked.

    So Ferguson St crossing removal and North Williamstown station will have a shutdown starting in August and the crossing and station will be open by the end of 2021. I guess they're doing one massive blitz instead of lots of little shutdowns.

    It is a short branch line. so a bus replacement is OK while the work is done all at once. The road crossing though, will be the main disruption though as the detour options are limited to 2 other crossings and through the residential streets. But I guess a single short sharp removal will see the pain over sooner rather than later.

    Some Youtube clips by the same author show progress at Mooroolbark and Lilydale. Based on these, there are six piers in place, on the up side, between the Highway and John St with a retaining abutment under construction south of John St. There are at least two more on the down side, south of the Highway. Updates on the LXRP websites suggest that John St will have some bridge beams placed later this week and the first pieces of the modular station will be delivered over the weekend

    Typical, I can't even snap some work-in-progress pics at either station due to the stupid 5km radius rule, my train ride legally ends at Croydon, which is an absolute eyesore of a station (Ringwood East and Heathmont are even worse).

    They are working constantly, I can hear the machinery from my backyard, I can get to both Mooroolbark and Lilydale, the 5km is easy for me.

    The increase to 10km might help there, although it doesn't quite give me the range I need to get there, something I was planning just before the lockdown occured

    More information on Lilydale progress:

    All of the piers between the LX and John St are in place, totalling 12. The first module of the station is in place alongside Williams St East. The steelwork for two lift-shafts has gone up, north of the LX in what was the western car-park, and both would appear to have reached their final height. The LXRP web site suggested that the first beams would be placed over John St in the last few days but that doesn't appear to have happened yet, possibly the wild weather delayed any heavy lifting attempts. Considering that the whole Yarra Valley from east of Warburton in as far as Croydon lost power from Wednesday night, due to the wild weather, until some time this afternoon, with pockets still not restored, I'm not surprised that they didn't try any lifts.
    As an aside the line was closed due to trees down over the track, possibly with damage to the catenary around Croydon / Mooroolbark area.

    Looking at the photo on Reddit it looks like the damage is between Croydon and Ringwood East e.g. somewhere around the two 75 km/h curves between Mount Dandenong Rd and the Eastfield Rd bridge. Photo shows a double stanchion with one which has been bent into the other. It could be Croydon-Mooroolbark but I can't think of another area like that with those trees.

    Certainly could be that location Lockie, as it wasn't clear from the photo I saw. There was a fair bit of large debris on the line near the Mooroolbark Rd bridge when I went past on Thursday, but nothing quite matching those trees

    Some "artist impressions" of the replacement station at Mont Albert/Surrey Hills. All 'nice and fluffy' but only one or two give you any idea of the actual station design and layout, so add little to what is already known

    Historian you are correct. As a local I can tell you there has been quite a bit of uproar, mainly from residents who live adjacent to the rail line or very close by.

    It's a "poxy" little reserve with an old playground. If you wanted to kick a ball around, there's a high chance it falls onto the tracks.

    Hopefully what's left of the reserve can be improved.

    I was able to spend a little time at Lilydale today. There are now 3 spans (6 L beams) in place on the up side from north of John St, with another L beam waiting to be lifted into place, caught in the last photo, although a bit hard to see. Both abutments are complete with RSJs (Reinforced Steel Joists) in place for a permanent retaining wall to the south of them. A couple of modules of the station are in place and more work is happening on the 'clock towers'.

    Forgot to mention there were a trio, with a very expensive professional camera, working their way around John St when I was, so I expect an update on the LXRP website will be forthcoming

    No photos today but in the last 48 hours the crew at Lilydale have put up two more L beams to complete a fourth span; this one is just south of the LX, also on the up side, which leaves a gap of one span between the previously installed three and the latest one. Directly underneath the gap is part of the installed station modules. The clock tower / lift shafts are being clad, in place, in the west car park.

    About 13 level crossings are due to be done by end 2021. I can figure our some most likely but I don't get up to 13. Anyone have a better idea of which will be this year. The LXRA pages often talk of 2022 but not much for 2021.
    I predict the 13 crossings that could be delivered by 2021, which the LXRA is talking about. The talks of 2022 are normally the completion date when all the details are complete, but not just the level crossing removal itself, like the completion of the station build and surrounding fauna and floral and the station car parks etc.

    Alright good time to update. Level crossing removal authority and the state government have announced the remaining level crossings to be removed by the end of 2021.

    What already got completed:
    -> Werribee Street got completed in January 2021
    -> Cherry street got completed early during March 2021 instead of April 2021

    What I guessed will finish in 2021:
    -> The Edithvale-Chelsea-Bonbeach project I believe could finish in mid-2021, but looks like it will be finished in late 2021. The government counts this as 6 level crossings (including the extra one at Lochiel avenue)

    -> South Gippsland Highway is to be complete by end of 2021

    -> The two on the Lilydale line to be finished by the end of 2021

    What will finish in 2021 not on my radar:
    -> Williamstown crossing was fast tracked to 2021 date, completely surprised about that one tbh

    What has not been announced yet to be complete early yet:
    ->Hoppers crossing bridge is said to be complete by the end of 2021 on a publication, although set date of completion not yet announced

    -> Greens road viaduct is all done, just needs to link up at each end, hasn't been announced to completion yet, perhaps the duplication part is still a little behind.

    -> Glenroy crossing seems to be taking longer due to the basalt being trickier to dig out, currently 33% complete digging the trench, probably early next year

    ->Gap road crossing early works is starting soon, so it's on track for removal perhaps in early part of 2022, who knows how quick they can get that done.

    Basically so far looks like 12 will be definitely complete in 2021, with potentially one more to maybe also complete making the 13 they talked about earlier in the year.
