The corona virus COVID-19

This shows that, as I've said before, the best solution is a hard lockdown, as China has done. There are perhaps hundreds of thousands of people who are now alive and glad for it,  who have gladly traded this so called 'freedom' so dear to some Texans and the like for many many more years of life's little joys . If Gladys had locked everybody up for three weeks, properly locked up and none of this 'essential' shopping for flowers at Bunnings or junk food at KFC business, then we'd be through this lingering discomfort .

Oh, Covid's such a laugh!

One of the women at work today announced that she had now had her 2nd shot of "Pfister" and she feels really fine! Some of the others looked sideways at each other and said "I'll have what She's having!"

This highlights the modern problem; so many think they have a human right to live a life of pleasure. One Google star for anything less. The idea of personal pain for the general good seems repulsive vtovso many and they are prize catches for the Internet snail oil salesman of the anti-vax wellness set. I recall no pain but know others who did and just accepted it.

Good article by Leigh Sales.  She calls out the left-wing drips on Twitter for their abuse:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-09-14/twitter-social-media-bullies-political-journalism/100458714

"In the Australian corner of Twitter, the space is dominated by views that are militantly pro-lockdown, pro-COVID zero and pro-Labor premiers, and even the tamest of questions in those directions prompts an onslaught. Topics currently guaranteed to trigger a pile-on include data from official sources that highlights the minimal risks to children from COVID; reporting about the unintended costs of lockdowns including Australians stranded overseas and harm to mental health; information about how safe the AstraZeneca vaccine is; and any analysis of whether policies such as hard border closures and the denial of return for residents stuck interstate are proportionate to the risk."

You obviously were very fortunate to feel no pain from being fisted by a Snail Oil Salesman, but I don't think the Women I work with feel especially entitled to a Life of Pleasure. Rolling Eyes They're quite prepared to knuckle down and face life with an open mind (and open hand).

That’s still just about 1/3 of NSW’s cases.

Carnot, I totally agree with Leigh Sales and the whole thing about abuse on Twitter is pretty shocking.
Many lobby groups urge their supporters to engage in 'online advocacy' which many interpret as "relentlessly abuse anyone who doesn't agree 100% with X lobby group".

Weirdest thing I read today was pop singer Nicki Minaj's ill-informed tweet about an unfortunate friend in Trinidad...  I won't post it here since this is a family website, but suffice to say, she's not a doctor.

The things that people believe are amazing. So many will take medical advice from anyone except a doctor. I wonder if they take their cars to the baker to have them serviced, or pop into the 7-11 to have a tooth pulled.

I don't know about a baker, but taking a wide body Camry to a dairy would make sense given they were made from cheese.

We had 5000 cases per day here and with limitations most things were open.

Now these anti-vaxxers claim vaccination certificate are against the Nuremberg Code, this a war crime and that Kerry and Gladys will be charged as war criminals, like Goebbels.

That shows a remarkable lack of insight into what the Nuremberg code and war crimes actually are…

Just read that quote better. Charged with war crimes ‘like Goebbels’ - I am pretty sure Goebbels wasn’t charged with any war crimes, he was never detained by the allies.

I think this is Chinese Whispers, where the story has morphed to suit the local anti-whatever narrative from the recent revelation in the UK:

I find the "Dr. Fauci funding of dodgy Wuhan Bat virus research" theory far more convincing and plausible than that rabbit hole...

"Aaron"
Quite correct. He succeeded Hitler as Chancellor for a day or two after Hitler's suicide. Goebbels then poisoned his children with cyanide, and he and his wife suicided.

I believe Goering was the most senior Nazi to front up at Nuremberg.

The U.S has now recorded more deaths now than in the Spanish Flu, the total deaths now stand at 682,381,  there were nearly 2,000 deaths overnight in the U.S from Covid-19, this surpasses the estimated 675,000 recorded way back then.

Although pro-rata given their much higher population today, it isn't as severe:
675000 out of 106 million = 0.63%
682000 out of 332 million = 0.20%

Covid will likely take out many more people in the coming months though, and probably get close to 1 million cumulative deaths (since March 2020) in the USA over the next year.

For reference - annual flu deaths in the USA have been between 12000 and 61000 over the past decade.

In most cases now the deaths are entitlely preventiable and a choice by the person who died.

I'm sure Joe isn't loosing much sleep over his Redneck supporters getting sick, he told them to get vaxed and they boo'ed, DT even told them and they boo'ed.
