The corona virus COVID-19

Your Premier (while I'm a Qld resisdent I won't say mine) stated falsly a few days ago airports are ghost towns. I have my own photos of Reykjavik, Amsterdam, Male and  Dubai from last few months to show otherwise. I have friends who have photos of others to show similar busy airports in Greece, London, US and elsewhere. US air traffic is aroudn 75 - 80%. Emirates airline plans to be back to 70% of pre-pandemic by end of the year, we are looking at holiday options for late Oct and Dec school breaks.
I have a pair of ADS-B receivers on my hangar, in the Hunter region of NSW, both have typical ranges of ~170NM and can go out to 200NM on a good day. So that's 80,000km2 of airspace that I can monitor, which is approximately 10% of the entire state of NSW. In that volume of airspace, there are three (3) aircraft right now, broadcasting ADS-B. One is a Cessna 414 (75nm), one is Cathay 100 (125nm), and one looks to be an F18 or Hawk out of Williamtown at around 100nm distant. That's it!

No Qantas, no Virgin flights, no other GA flights. Nothing. In the entire state of NSW, there are two airborne Qantas flights, and one 747 on the ground in Sydney that looks to be an Atlas cross-hire.

Makes me wonder how much longer our so-called 'leaders' are going to have us under lock and key while the rest of the world gets on with the job...
KRviator
I get about double the range of you, a bit more than four times the airspace, though a lot of that is well out of the ocean where no flights go. I have seven aircraft in the air now, QF7395, MH128, 2x FD (flying doctor), a RAAF P8 (A47-006), SG218, and a Beechcraft on a flight school training flight it seems.

For example, May 2020:
Adelaide, Darin & Hobart took Zero international arrivals, Perth 1,141, Brisbane 1,809, Melbourne 5,643 and Sydney 10,119.

June 2020: Darwin & Hobart, again, Zero. Adelaide 26, Perth 1,652, Brisbane 4,496, Melbourne 6,431 and Sydney 12, 537.

Until this year, Tasmania hasn’t had scheduled international flights for more than 20 years. The ones this year were inside the NZ travel bubble, so passengers would not have had to isolate. The most likely point of entry for Tasmanians would be Sydney, COVID or pre-COVID.

The $100m's spent on Quarrantine facilities is a waste of money whch is why NSW is not building it. …………………………………………………………………….
RTT_Rules
The Commonwealth government is paying for the facilities.

Vic cannot manage its lockdowns, which in most cases has come about by hotel Quarratine mismanagement.
RTT_Rules
This year's lockdowns, and a breakout that was contained before lockdown stage, came from NSW and South Australia. NSW managed to export it to New Zealand via the travel bubble. One of the mildly amusing NSW hotel quarantine failures was when the police officer drove two passengers from Sydney's International terminal to the Domestic terminal for a flight to Melbourne.

Aren’t you a Victorian Brian? Covid numbers in Victoria have been a real worry long before today!
  Carnot Minister for Railways

Hume LGA is the main contributor to the Melbourne numbers. At least first vax numbers improved significantly in the past few weeks. But big questions on why it took so long.

And then you ask in another thread "Why are we in lockdown?" Rolling Eyes

What will it be tomorrow could it go over 1000?

It will probably be over 1000 tomorrow unless there is a reduced level of testing to reduce the chance of finding an undesirable number.

I should have know Commonsense is not that common south of the Murray.

Incidentally, Dan Andrews via the Dept of Justice is advertising for lots of new Authorised Officer (AO) jobs to enforce Covid compliance until June 2022.

Make of that what you will...

Yay, tax payer funded lawyers and courts being used by one tax payer funded organisation to sue/fine another tax payer funded organisation…

Save the money guys.

Investigate, find out what went wrong, implement changes to do it better next time and save the tax payers a bunch of money.

You have a very strange way of saying, "I can't prove it".  Never mind; your customary resort to insult when you can't give a sensible answer, is something to which we're all accustomed.
  justapassenger Minister for Railways

I am sticking to my own reopening schedule:
  • Remove curfew and outdoor masks for all doubled vaccinated people immediately.
  • November 1st: there are no excuses left for anyone not to have been doubled vaccinated if they wanted to be. Ditch ALL outdoor restrictions for vaccinated people and allow outdoor dining. No travel distance limits. No meeting limits oitdoors. Open state borders with NSW or anyone else who is prepared to including New Zealand. Keep current measures for unvaccinated.
  • December 6th: Remove most indoor restrictions for vaccinated people and let all business reopen to vaccinated people. Some density limits still needed and indoor masks. Keep current measures for unvaccinated.
  • New years day remove all restrictions for all vaccinated people. Keep current measures for unvaccinated.
  • In March remove restrictions on unvaccinated as well. If they aren't going to by this time, they never will.
  • Open international travel with no restrictions in July 2022, pending review of what is going on overseas.
Mr. Lane
You forgot:
June 30 - EOFY with Medicare Levy set to 5% with no minimum threshold for unvaccinated.

Says the ratbag who wished Andrews physical harm not too long ago. Drop him into the middle of Bass strait, or similar, you said. If that is the hallmark of a correspondent steeped in common sense, then I'll go he. Just for a moment I will lower myself to your standard and suggest that you probably secretly desire that Gladys facesits you and leaves snails tracks! Laughing

You could never live in Victoria, Shane. You're simply not tough enough. We're a progressive bunch down here, which you are obviously uncomfortable with. The vast majority of people here realise that lockdowns keep getting reinstated and extended because selfish Conservatives keep spreading the friggin' virus. Although it seems contradictory that the majority of cases are in the working class/Labor held areas of NW metropolitan Melbourne, it's not those along for the ride that are doing the wrong thing. It will ALWAYS be those that value individual rights over the health and wellbeing of society as a whole. Tell me, generally speaking, who would such minded people vote for? More importantly, is their selfishness an indication of common sense?

Common sense is not dictated by state boundaries Shane, but by the mindset of individuals within.

I wish I could like this post more than once, entirely correct, it is the lawlessness of the people that are causing the most angst down there, heck, we even had it up here in Sydney, anywhere in the world where you have had Covid protests, or "Freedom protests", they have turned into massive super spreader events afterwards and made the problem 10x worse than it already has been.

At least they’re keep those testing numbers up! If you won’t lock it down and properly contain it, at least try knowing where it is.

All the lockdowns and curfews etc etc etc have been for nothing.
  • Businesses have been trashed.
  • Government departments charging each other over workplace safety where the only beneficiaries will be an army of lawyers. Until officials are named and charged there will never be an outcome.
  • Vline collapsed a week or so ago.
  • Australia Post in complete disarray; delivering nothing and just shuttling parcels back and forth multiple times from one depot to another. Taken over three weeks to get a small, light, parcel from Werribee to Melbourne to Sunshine to Melbourne to Sunshine (yes twice) and now to Derrimut which is closer to its origin and further from its destination than when it started.
  • Food shortages will be next.
It has now reached the stage when Andrews and Sutton should resign.

What does it matter? Until (certain sections especially) of the community start taking simple precautions seriously, the spirit of which are known to (almost) all nothing will stop this.

The hospitals are about to collapse like those in India. Multiple deaths (again) here we come.

So, because the anti-vaccers, conspiracy theorists and AFL Grand Final backyard party goers who refuse to wear masks or socially isolate, don't believe in COVID or are flat earthers who are completely unhinged, the Premier and Chief Health officer should resign...yeah good one Exclamation

BTW, from a PT perspective, V/Line was back to normal on Monday.

Yet another selective and disingenuous post highlighting some groups and conveniently ignoring others

By your reckoning there must be a hell of a lot of "anti-vaccers, conspiracy theorists and AFL Grand Final backyard party goers" in the City of Hume LGA just for a start

Luckily most sensible people can see right through this sort of rubbish
