Ok late Sundee update, train South through Heywood at 14:00ish, so would have arrived at Portland around the time predicted by Y115.

Rather beastly weather conditions, rain and hail so no footage from Mum so I'd say weather too wet & cold for Y115 & RR is probably sampling an Ale. I'll get back to doing the same.

You're right about the weather, also I rarely go  out in the afternoons/evenings so will be missing a few of these late arrivals.  Train arrived about 1500 and departed 0100 (give or take a few minutes).  Loading at Woomelang next, should be back here Wednesday if it doesn't go to Geelong.
Looking forward to seeing what's happening when Geelong Graincorp closes down next Monday.

Nice picture Y115 so was the loading venue changed to Ouyen, you mentioned Woomelang in your previous post. Anyway grain certainly arriving from all over the place. The trip from Oaklands is 700k ish and even a fair hall from the Mallee.

Keep up the great work.

For some reason it was changed or the person who told me got it wrong or I heard it wrong.

Not sure when the next grain train will be here.

Don't forget the AKs on Saturday morning.

Is there an ETA for the AK's? Not sure if I'll be around, but BSM may be able to catch them coming or going.

AKs 1030 arrive Portland, 1130 depart Portland.  Times may (and usually do) vary.  Two 49 class locos this time so something new for us.

Well she intends to try and catch AK's RR and in fact apparently the Periscope is already up and pointing North Razz so fingers crossed for some footage.

I reckon the last time the train was down to Portland, last year was it but anyhow there was a number of people who had chased the train and filmed it at various locations and wacked the footage on YouTube.

AKs crawling along, be lucky if they get here before 1200.

Does travelling at line speed mean that they can't go faster even if they are capable of faster speed?

Grain train at Maroona.

Settle down braintrain, there might tow choochoos on the line but it is a bit rare these days besides which Mum has been up since before sunrise stalking sites to film the AK train and also will try and catch the grainy that's on the way so she will be on time and a half $$$.

Three stacks of concrete sleepers and a machine near the Henty Hwy lx at Heathmere. Probably only enough for a couple of hundred metres.

Pretty sure there are quite a few crews working at the same time, would have to be to get it finished.  They seem to be replacing as needed rather than every sleeper or one in five.
