Did anyone see DP22 and/or DP26 out on their various trips last week? A few unusual movements
Its probably worth noting that DAP26 made it to Burnie which would make it the first articulated DP to get there in ?? years (early 1970s at least?), and that DP22 and DP26 ran back to Launceston together, this probably being the first run of big cars in MU on the mainline since 1979
My personal tally was 1370km of train travel in seven days, using three different trains, and the only bit of track I missed out on was the section from Melba to Rosebery (that was because we were delayed by an opposing train and a gang on the empty stock movement that morning, and we turned around early to keep to time)
Despite the efforts of the local vandals in suburban Launceston (not talking about train control this time!), we made it back home to Hobart close to time and with not too muh damage.
I'll post some picture when I get a chance to sort through the picture I took and see what I actually took.

Yeah i seen DP26 last week.I was thinking why is there a Hobart railcar up here for.Now i know.
I think last time an articulated railcar up here on the north west would have to be in the 70s.I don't know either cause i wasn't born then!
A pity i didn't have my digi cause i would of taken a few pics.
So Stuart how is DP26?.Last time i seen it, it was still in restoration, that was about 8 years ago.

there is a couple of photos in my gallery of DP26&DP22 at inveresk. unfortunately that is all i had time to get down and see.
what exactly happened as far as rocks on the track etc.? they must have been big ones to do the damage that they caused.

I was down at the trailing end when the incident occured so I didn't see it as it happened, but I was told there was a pile of largeish rocks (which fits the large dent). By the time they came out my end, the 10 or so rocks were scattered down the track over about 5 or 10 metres, so there would have been the initial impact, plus the damage of running over them and pushing them about. There isn't a lot of clearence under some parts of the railcar, so a rock flicking up can easily do damage.
Needs cowcatcher repairs, but hopefully not a lot more.
