Of course Aurizon will haul more grain than they do now after the sale goes through.

I hope Aurizon can repair the relations in south Australia and move more produce on rail. Much left rail in grain with the GWA management and increased intemodal and drifter to Darwin has stalled.

If there is a view to create port competition for grain in Western Vic/Eastern SA, completing that link would be the way to do it.

Just past Murrayville, so the gap is 22km
Unfortunately the ridiculousness of state borders still impacts such thinking re port competition.
Resurrecting any of these lines is a long shot, but never say never. It partly depends on whether Aurizon intend to take over the lease on these lines. They must already have some idea of their intentions, as must the SA Government, as this would have to have been discussed as part of their due diligence prior to the sale agreement.
Time someone asked the question in the SA Parliament?

It was a generalisation.
And in case anyone was left wondering, the question I'm suggesting needs to be asked is not whether Pinnaroo or EP will re-open, but what Aurizon is going to do with the lease over SA regional lines. Logic dictates they must know - you don't buy a business for $2bn plus that has some dodgy lease as part of the transaction.
