    whats the main advanages of these, noise, wear ? Saw it on facebook and happy to see you post here !

    Got a K&M XPT mech. any good for them ?

    Hi David,

    They will suit any of the K&M mechanisms in either HO or HOn3.5.

    The primary reason for developing them was to replace original K&M cracked gears on my own mechanisms as K&M are no longer able to supply them.

    The shape of the tooth itself has been modified to provide the most efficient mesh between the axle gear and worm drive which in my opinion has produced a quieter running mech.

    I fitted a K&M mech to a Lima 44 body a number of years ago and I've never been happy with it due to the fact it is very noisy. It's made a rather expensive static model!

    LSB 10, do you think that your gears might be the answer to my problem? I'm certainly interested if that's the case.

    Hi Neville,

    The change in tooth profile will definitely assist in reducing noise, hard to give a definite answer though without knowing if there's a further issue with your mech.

    For ease of installation onto the axle, ensuring the gear is kept square and centered, I have developed a spacing tool designed to be used in a vice of similar.
    Both HO and HOn.3.5 versions available.

    as I cannot get Railpage images, could we please include the link to the pictures below the image just as Poath always does?
    Not sure if its my computer or even if it effects many others. I am rather surprised Railpage has not sorted it as it has been playing up (for me) for some years.

    In the mean time are you able to click on the Facebook page link https://www.facebook.com/darleyworkshops

    I've tested it and it appears you don't need a Facebook account to be able to view it so it should work for you.

    I was wondering how many others dont get Railpage images?
    And if anybody found it to be their machine and if they fixed it?

    And also, Luke. Where do you host the image, because that address should lead to the image?

    If you copy and paste the link to the images in the first post, the first thing you get is a Google login screen.
    It's not Railpage's fault it can't handle that.

    Thanks, but in my case its every picture on every page!
    Suspect its my machine as hearing nothing from others.

    But now I need to search my storage boxes to find my retired KTM mechs and see if I need those gears Very Happy

    YES!!  its fixed for me.
    Whatever you did, it now shows your pictures for me Very Happy

    Mind you no other pictures from others including Poath are working, just yours

    Make sure you go gentle with the vice.  One would not want to destroy the axle or wheelset.  Easy does it.

    I thought the gears for this were specific to one type of loco and not suitable for other mechs. I asked the XPT and told - uselesss. Sad

    Hi David,

    Sorry I don't follow, what's the issue with the XPT mech?

    The XPT mech did have different sized gears on the tower to make it run at prototypical speeds however K&M only developed one type of axle gear. There were a couple of different widths but only one tooth profile.
