LOL so using that logic then don't ever talk about Adelaide again - you've been here once. You know nothing about living here so don't ever comment again. You need to understand something about invading and occupying a country - the citizens will usually resist with or without political leaders presence.
And you need to understand that particularly in the case of Ukraine it just isn't that simple.
Crimea for example is 80% Russian speaking and most people identified as ethnic Russian which is why Putin decided to take it back in 2014 after the coup.
About 14,000 civilians have been killed in the eastern regions like Donbass since 2014 - much of it the Ukranian government shelling and shooting their own people. There's been a lot of insurrection in those places conducted by Russian-backed rebels - Putin called them 'freedom fighters', Zelenskyy called them 'terrorists'.
It just isn't straightforward that the Ukrainian people are all going to reject the Russians as invaders - some will welcome them as liberators.
Someone is completely clueless, acording to your logic Germany should invade the likes of the Barossa Valley and claim it as its own.
They are mostly Russian because of past Rusification policies which saw Russia in former USSR move Russians into the non Russian states to force a change to one culture and language and in this area was high in Russians due to former soviet military installations including nuclear missle silo's and navy and airforce installations, any Ukrainain's there mostly left for fear over the last 7 years.
Don, follow your own policies and don't talk about other places, you are not there, you don't know. At least I've been to Ukraine and do business with Ukraine (well until two weeks back) .
You should know better by now than to tangle with me, Shane. I research things, I post facts - you don't do any of those things mate.
