    It's in the same vein as politicians/bureaucrats description of addressing deferred maintenance as an 'upgrade'.

    With the flooding going on on the east coast, can anyone local comment on how the Condamine Floodplain is going?  Im seeing reports in the Goondiwindi Argus (online of course) of flooding at Inglewood and Yelarbon.  How is the rest of the area holding up?

    Condamine flood plain is living up to its name.  While the Condamine is still 24 cm below the Centenary Bridge as of 1520hrs, the highway has been closed as approaches are underwater.  Several other trunk roads are also closed and it is not possible to travel from Toowoomba to Goondiwindi nor Warwick to Goondiwindi necessitating diversion on New England Highway to reach destinations south.  Still a lot of water to come down the Condamine with catchments full (Leslie Dam practically full).

    Of course the opponents of the proposed Condamine crossing want you to assume so.

    I read of someone proposing their proprietary system of continuous culverts for the whole 16km.

    Not until I see them seriously into Narromine - Narrabri (or Nth of the border) will I think they are fair dinkum.

    No, the Victorian Government was responsible.

    However, the debacle amply demonstrates how even a reputable contractor ought not be left to their own devices.

    ARTC IR website. Personally I preferred the previous layout and more so the one before that. Why do site developers feel the need to keep dumbing them down or is it change for change sake?

    Hardly surprising given that a quick squiz at the Inland Rail website shows that work on this section not due to start until mid-2024.

    There is a page for each invidual project area on the Inland Rail website with timelines.
