Today when i was on the train, the all stations roma street train left bald hills the roma street express pulled through the station and the driver of the emu i was in wound the emu racing the express smu.
Can the train drivers not resist the temptation of racing each other???

Maybe they were racing ... you would never be sure. But there's one thing that I'm sure of - the SMU would have won, not by much, but it would have won. EMUs have an acceleration rate of 0.775ms2 and SMUs 0.8ms2. So, as the trains accelerated out of the sweeping left hand bend, one on the down road, and the middle road, the EMU would have been left to eat SMU dust! They both have a 100kmh Maximum Service Speed.
I'm just guessing, but if the services you speak of are #1946 Roma Street Express and #1516 Ipswich All-Stations, then this scene happens every morning. The two trains race each other until they reach Zillmere where the Roma Street runs express, and the Ipswich continues to stop all stations. So guys, if you ever want to see a Train Drag from the tarmac, be waiting at the Telegraph Rd Grade Crossing.

1169 and TL11 runs alongside each other between Morayfield and Caboolture (arrives at the same time, although TL11 is scheduled to arrive 1 min after 1169). But that is a different story considering TL11 is a IMU and 1169 is either a SMU or EMU.
Cheers.

As long as the drivers did not exceed the speed limit, and abide by rail rules, there aren't strong grounds for sacking.
IMUs have a slower acceleration rate (0.68ms2) than both the EMU/SMU, and would definately loose as the max allowable speed in the suburban area is 100kmh, even though their Max Service Speed is 140kmh. Acceleration has be traded for a higher top end speed.

You can't beat the 8km straight at Archer in Central QLD.
