G'day All

Sydney Electric Train Society has posted a really nice old television advertisement, dug out from 1982, and produced by the former State Rail Authority, which shows the former Trackfast freight services.

Ok

So who wants to speculate WHERE in the network that shiny new 81 class came bursting through the fog?

I remember it took 7 nights to film that 10 second portion of the commercial.
Waiting for cool, still air.
And a HUUGGE fog machine. Laughing

On the nights of filming freighters were banked up every where because of that part of the metro goods line being closed.

Hint perhaps.

Cheers Jono.

There are only 2 real trains.

I was a Signaller at Chullora junction on one of the nights and the train would run along the Up South then back up and do it again, over and over. As least when I finished my shift I was invited down to their catering track parked in the Boshops. (Before anybody else comments about Chullora, I used too always answer the radio.)

It is a pity that the government isnt shown that now, so that they can build a freight line from Melbourne to Brisbane and get trucks off our roads.

Yes, OK I was a Signalman then, but since 1993 we are called Signallers in the rules. In the higher grade Signal Boxes the Signallers position and title is "Area Controller" I've never liked the Signaller title.
