Now, a few rather different questions...
1. How many gunzel friends did you make or met because of internet??
//me around 30 or 40 or so I would say...
2. How many of that did you meet in person?
1/2 of them
3. How many of them you never met, but you have them on your messager/icq or frequently email?
Around 2 or 3
4. How many of them you saw them before, know who they are on the internet(ie by their username etc) and they probably know who you are, but you never go and introduce yourself?
Around 10 or so...

 Okay probably a really dumb question here:
I note that word "GUNZEL" again, it crops up a lot on Railpage Australia™.
Just what does "gunzel" really mean, or, what other word would properly fit that description exactly.
Is it "railway" or what.

From the Australian railway slang file:
Gunzel
(1) n. Railway enthusiast. Originally derogatory, refering to overly enthusiastic or foolish railfans (c.f. US "foamer"). Now refers to rail fans in general, and the term is often used with pride. Usage originally confined to south eastern states, it has since spread to the whole of Australia and parts of New Zealand. See for example www.gunzel.net. May be used to refer to a specific interest, e.g. "freight gunzel", "tram gunzel".
(2) v. Engage in railway enthusiast activities, e.g. "to gunzel around".
Gunzeling
v. Any sort of railway-related activity, such motorcading and taking photos. E.g. "I was gunzeling around near Bethungra."

That was an excellent explanation, now have a better understanding of "gunzel". First time I ever heard of it was here at Railpage Australia™ and yes Victorians at first.
Ages ago when at TS.com, the yanks used the word "foamers" a lot, again had no idea what they were. I think it's a terrible name even if they are classed as "fanatical rail fanatics", sounds like some mad dog with a bad case of Rabies. It did cross my mind that maybe "gunzel" referred to something like the US "foamers", but then thought, surely not, with the way the actual word "gunzel" was being used here in posts. Thanks for clearing this up. Being retired from railways these days and been out of the daily system "clap trap" sort of living down a post hole so to speak for some time, one is not up with these new sayings.
When I was in the (S.A.) railways, railway employees here when seeing enthusiastic people taking pictures etc would say to each other, "hello, Historicals" this mainly coming from the historical train runs. But I always respected their passion for railways and always helped them out as best I could to get their best pictures or sounds, of course providing we were treated with respect (a hint for train chasers) and I do not ever remember an over enthusiastic train chaser (foamer or gunzel) getting out of line or giving us some grief . Maybe things have change in last 10 years or so in this area.
BTW to me these "Historicals" were filming history for the future, I for one am very thankful they were around way back then for us old dogs to jolt our memories and others to see what it was like... in those fantastic times. Well to me they were great times.
I'll try to answer Jame's questions.

Most of my email gunzel train friends I have met on Train Sim.com (very early days) and of late 2 here at Railpage Australia™.
New Zealand, Japan, France, Alberta, Colorado, Oz. Keeps me flat out with at times rather lengthy emails.
Internet was best thing ever invented especially for us retiree's.

All of them, correspond only by emails, do not use messager/icq.

None. But we have got to know each very, very well over the time. Have developed a very good email friendly relationship, almost like we have known each other all our lives. Email in draft mode, is a fantastic medium no darn 2 liners either.

Rarely, as no need to introduce yourself (the rail forums is my only means of reading and meeting others, will not use chat rooms) You get to know them to a certain degree by continually reading their posts. Those who write more than 1 lines that is.  Is interesting, well to me anyway.
All my gunzel email friends have come from rail forums and we developed a relationship through emails from there on. Some lasted very little time, and a few a good relationship has grown. To me the Internet is a great medium in that area of communication.

1) About 10
2) About 10 (Same number as 1). Though alot of this weren't planned meetings, and more or less, were coincidental 'small world' encounters, like on train tours or at 'common' gunzelling spots. I remember I met one person on an Endeavour out of Maitland!
