I think this thread was a few months early, come Feb/March things would be more interesting, but I think most people here have seen a Hitachi at least in the last week (if you have been going on the train a few days a week at least).

One stabled at Upper Gully overnight, this seems to happen around every four - five weeks, sorry didn't get a number.

17.27 FSS - Cranbourne was a silver last night and returned on the 18.38(?) up

06.52 Frankston - FSS was a silver this morning

If they can be got rid of tomorrow it won't be soon enough for me.

Its funny, I haven't seen a silver in over a month. Its been Siemens and Comeng on the ratio of 1:5 for sighting a Comeng during peak.

Have not been in Melbourne this week, been in Brisbane where their trains seem pretty good. Last week however, I think I would have seen at least one Hitachi a day, going to and from work.

Ah, but there's no Hitachis in Bris! No trains with opening windows at all, in fact!

37M-1979T-36M-105M-1999T-178M Ran several services to Hurstbridge today. (About time!)

Making the most of a day off School, I was heading into the city, but on arrival at Greensborough the Hitachi pulled in on the down so I ran accross the platform and jumped on! I stayed on it all the way to Hursty, where it stabled. I then caught the next up into the city, and on return, there it was at Eltham! I then photographed it on its next down on the Trestle bridge. 2 were running on the Sandy line yesterday and a 3rd on the FKN line. It was interesting to see, as approaching FSS there was one Hitachi pulling out for a down SHM and two were pulling in (the one up SHM, and up FKN)

Definitely a rare sight. Wish there was a decent photo op!

I heard a Hitachi at Bentleigh yesterday earaly-evening. The noises they make, define them subtly...

I forgot to mention:

The 0755 DOWN Willy from FSS this morning was a hitachi

I also saw another hitachi over in platform 14 at SSS at exactly 16.00 this afternoon. I presume it was coming from Willy to form a DOWN Sandringham at FSS.

No longer here.
