If you go to contract CMS 116467 it shows the value of the contract investigate the provision of a terminating station and stabling idings on the Werribee Line.

Are you sure? I can't see it on that site.
I hope they fix up the subway (clean it) and fix the platform 3 building - it looked like it was falling down when I was there, all sadly boarded up. My pics are at: http://bgstations.fotopic.net/c720886.html

For train stabling faciliities, new terminating station and signalling upgrade.

A new terminating station station? A referbishment will do. No need for a new station when it only needs a clean.

Werribee definitely needs train stabling facilities, but I agree, having been to Werribee 3 times, that the station itself only needs a bit of a refurbishment.....the actual location of the station is fairly ideal IMHO.

It looks pretty vague, I read "new terminating station" and I think "Werribee West station" or "Wyndham Vale station" or "reopened Werribee Racecourse station".

I think the same.

I remember reading somewhere (I think an article was scanned and posted here somewhere) What included a spur line from Werribee to Whyndum Vale, or was it jsut an extra station? Either way, this isn't the first of the talk of that. I'll do a search....

Would Derrimut Road fit into the picture as well???? or is it categorically Werribee station?

A station at Derrimut Road, Werribee East would be useful as well, although I think this thread is regarding either the existing Werribee station or a new western terminus.
I'd like to see a two tier service (along with significant upgrades to the Werribee line, especially at Laverton Station).
The first would be a direct service via the mainline: et al>Newport>Newport West>Laverton>Aircraft>Forsyth>Hoppers Crossing>Werribee East>Werribee>Werribee West
The second would be et al>Newport>Seaholme>Altona>Westona>Laverton
Italics denotes new station

I agree with you there Byrnesy, its in the most ideal position, being so close to the heart of the suburb.

Derrimut Road would be a new station - but I don't think it is the one mentioned in the tender.
That could have been PalmerEldritch's fictious map. ![]()
Note the tender is for "Werribee Rail Corridor Rail Engineering Investigations" description: "For train stabling faciliities, new terminating station and signalling upgrade" - cost: £133,096.70 So it is only a study into a new station. ![]()

cost is in pounds..?

That could have been PalmerEldritch's fictious map. ![]()
Or some of the suggestions that arose in this thread: http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11305975.htm

Ahhh! Found It!

The only addition I would make to PE's idea would be to re-open Paisley station. I believe it would get good use.

well i think the station looks horrible, i got the wrong bus after seeing my girlfriend so i got on the train there and well its not a nice place to get the train, especially at night. I think maybe a renovation might do but im not sure in moving it.

I don't know why they used the wording "new terminating station", but you can be confident that they are talking about something to do with the new stabling facilities and not a new station.

Maybe the facilities required for drivers and such at locations where trains terminate.

I really hope something is done, a new stabling facility would be cool, even werribee station renovated would be good.

What is the current arrangement with regards to stabling yards and the Werribee line? In other words, what yard do Werribee trains originate from in the mornings and shunt into in off-peak and evenings, given the lack of space at Werribee.

Judging by the timetables, I'd say the main places would be A) Newport, and B) Broadmeadows and C) Sydenham Line.... (Just guesses)

Three units (3-carriage trains) are stabled in platform 1 at Werribee (not totally within the platform though; it is not long enough).
Otherwise all trains on the Newport lines currently come from North Melbourne Sidings, Macaulay Sidings, or Melbourne Yard sidings.

wouldnt they also use newport as a siding also?

Newport has not been used much since it was taken over for storage of Siemens trains. It is now used again for stabling one train between peak periods.
Did you know you can now record your sightings in our new Sightings module?
