I've heard that from several sources. Also the Chooks reportedly didn't cost very much so the cost of transporting them to SA and bringing the T back is still quite a good price for an (almost) operating T.

would the T go to CFCLA if returned?

On that line they could easily haul 90t behind them. But the problem is that the brakes are incompatable. The Hens and Chooks (and Bluebirds) have electro pneumatic brakes and the E cars have Westinghouse air brakes.

They could convert the bogies of the E cars so they could operate with Redhens and SuperChooks like the 820 and 860 ex loco hauled cars converted to railcar operations

It's a pitty you did'nt do it. But then again, you wer'nt expecting them to go to the YPR and be used instead of the T-class

Just heard on another list that T387 has just been unloaded at Ballarat East and that at least one superchook has either arrived at YPR or is in transit on the back of a truck.

Not sure who it was but a representative from YPR was on radio the other day and confirmed there will be a huge media release on the new railcars for the area.

Saw a Superchook being transported up (north) on the Port Wakefield Road yesterday afternoon, assumed it was heading for YPR.
For a picture of a Superchook, look here

The E cars are in good condition, myself & members from TESSA (Transport Enthusiast Society of SA) went to Wallaroo on a club tour I had arranged.
We hired a Denning coach (also in red white & blue livery) to Wallaroo & then rode the train to Bute & return. During the trip a number of club members & guests got a cab ride through a club raffle I also organised.
2 people travelled on each section in both direction, 2 for Wallaroo to Kadina & then 2 for Kadina to Bute & vise Versa. All in all a great train outing.
I am slowly putting ideas together for another trip for the club for when the Super Chooks are in service.
