Afternoon all,
Adelaide & Hills V2 is in beta test. The Glenelg tram line has been extended into Victoria Square and I am just doing the last couple of buildings for Victoria Square and King William St South plus a bit more detail west of Goodwood. I have some pics of the GPO, MLC, Moore's building, Law Court buildings, Trim's building etc, but cannot find the Gallery - perhaps I need new glasses. I have added some more detail to the line but due to tiles already being very crowded, this is somewhat limited.
This version sees the line completed from Mt Barker Junction to Tailem Bend, the complete Mt Pleasant line, night textures in close to 100 additional buildings, a literal forest of new trees and shrubs and some of the textures in V1 have had a makeover. Some activities are also in preparation, but I keep adding a bit more track (to the Glenelg tram line) and stuffing them up. Heh, heh. With just about all the SAR rolling stock now released, there are ample opportunities for even more fun.
Best wishes,
allanl

allanl, thankyou so much for building this route and now releasing a second version! I was intrigued that you included my local station (Parafield Gardens) in a route set in the 1950s but who cares, it is one bloody brilliant route! For me, it is an interesting thing for me to drive on a line and then about an hour later actually be on the real life counter part of the sim. Case in point, this morning, I drove a train out of Penfield No 3 and by about midday, I was at Penfield No 3 seeing what was left. Great work allan! Look forward to Ver 2. One question though, will you have to delete the current version and then download the whole new version in one go or can you have a small download which includes the extensions and automatically adds on the current version?

Look forward to seeing the Murray River.

Thank you 409,
It is really good to get feedback, and know that it is still giving a lot of pleasure.
I had intended to release the route again as V2 when I had finished to Tailem Bend (and Mt Pleasant). However, I had someone (jokingly?)suggest he would meet me at the border. So, the route is now virtually complete to Coonalpyn with track laid to Culburra. I am really unsure whether to release now, and push on to the border as V3, or whether to hold it back until we are at Serviceton. Hmmm, thinking, thinking. A friend did a three day trip covering TB to Serviceton last week and I am currently digesting his 600 photos. I am now too ill to travel, so it is good to have friends.
I believe that it will be a new release because of the significant number of tiles that have had to be added to accomodate the extension from Tailem Bend. Yuri will be the decider of this.
Regards
allanl

Look forward to this extention to a wonderful route when it comes, but I know full well the difficulty of RE and detailing etc. Best of luck on this (fast becoming) monumental job.

Allan,

May I also congratulate you. This route is one of the best I've used in the sim, and the attention to detail you've put in it is really making it a joy to use, and to drive.

Keep up the good work and if version 2 is anything like version 1 (well you hope it would be) you'll be making a lot of people very happy.

Congratulations, from someone who tried route editor and gave up very quickly!

Cheers! Well Done Clap

I would personally hold off until we have reached the border. It would mean that we don't have to delete Vr 2 and install Vr 3. It would be easier to make the Serviceton extension in Vr 2. This is however my opinion only.

I wonder who the bright spark who said they would meet you at the border was? Link up with the Ballarat route and make what must be one of the longest MSTS routes in history with a few branches included!

Thanks 409,
If my health was sufficiently good that I could be sure of reaching Serviceton, I would add all the necessary tiles, lay track and the the update would then be just that - an update not a new version. However, I do not have that certainty. So, I lay about 10 miles, complete it and then lay another 10 miles and complete it. In this way, if I do not get to complete the route, I will not leave a huge area of track and nothing else.
Track is now complete to Tintinara and I am into scenery.
One question, guys - is a 7 hour activity ie Overland to/from the border, really a proposition, or should I pull the plug? Further, if in fact we do get to meet at the border, is a 12 hour activity a viable proposition? Are you actually going to play that? Heh, heh.
Regards
allanl
PS. I noticed that the ruling tonnage for the SAR 700 class steam loco both ways from Tailem to Serviceton was 950 tons. However, if no stop was made at a couple of stations, the tonnage rose to 1170. I put 1100 tons behind 706 and headed out from Tailem. This was the first full train run since finishing signalling to Coonalpyn, and I was so intent in watching signals and the length of loops that I had not noticed that my speed had dropped and I stalled on the grade. Heh, heh. I restarted the activity and this time hit the grade at 40 and crested it at 19mph. Another 70 tons might have made it interesting. One of the things I have learned is that my perception that from Tailem on was "flat and uninteresting" was way wrong. Inattentive drivers are in for a couple of "interesting" surpises.

Hmm that would be an interesting trip 12 hours straight playing msts now that might get boring you like might have to lay over somewhere. And then start again later i no i would.

And by the way this route is going to be the best
all the best allanl is it possible to take some shots of the route to show us

Cheers

I would be willing to give a whole 12 hour bout a shot! Be an interesting exercise!
