Is the flat roofed, brown brick building just north of Canberra station rail related?

The description matches a number of buildings in Canberra yard. The large one is the former Goods shed/ Trackfast center, but there is also a building associated with the railway social club tennis courts and a small building that I think is a pump house (or similar) for the water supply or drainage (I'm not sure which).

That would be the Canberra Barracks your refering to then I'd say. Its rest facility for drivers and crew during stopovers.

Ah that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up. Is that why the oil locos are shut down at the station end of the train,so it's less of a walk for the crews to barracks? Also, do we still have crews based in Canberra?

The locos are shunted to the station for security reasons. They used to sit at the head of the train but a couple of months back they got broken into and the radios were stolen. I heard that PN wanted to stable them in the Xplorer cage but got turned down by Countrylink or something, so they just put them near the station where security could keep an eye on them.
Apart from the crews that man the ARHS trains and do the actual oil train shunt, I don't think there are and Canberra based crews. Even the oil train shunters are technically Moss Vale crews, attatched to Canberra I think.
