Nice cabs there Yuri. If it’s not a trade secret what program was used to create the rendered cabs?

Very nice use of shadows and the surface texture/s on the boilers is outstanding. Compliments to the chef.

Thank you.

A team effort: Joseph Spinella created 3d cabs in 3DS Max based on photos at Thirlmere by Ian Bowles and Gary Ball.

Joseph then applied POVRay (or similar?), taking screenshots for each throttle and brake movement. Finally I used those multiple screenshots to create the ACE files for animating throttle and brake handles. I also applied the brake and pressure needles.

Thanks for takeing time to post those. I thought the cabs looked a little bit dark. I may buy both of these some time this week.

Ever been in a real steam cab? There's generally no lights on in them (just like you generally have no lights on inside your car whilst driving). The windows are small and to the side.

Yes but most also have lights inside. Also the sun lightens up most of the cab anyway...

As Yuri said in previous post in reality with the cab lights on you have no vision at all ahead as the lights reflect against the windscreen.
Try driving your car with the same conditions ie interior lights on and
see how far you get especially in fog etc.
Diesel locos are worse as the cab lighting is brighter.
Then again judging by your posts you are probably not old enough to hold a licence to drive.
Welcome to the real world.
Cheers
Ian

Sorry Macey,
after reading some of your posts on other threads which had a lot of spelling errors I honestly thought you were a billy lid (12-14).
I suggest to use the spellcheck feature in future then others will not form the same opinion.

To be honest though, having a cablight on at night you are lucky to see 10ft in front of you.
Cheers
Ian
ps If you were at Hurstville it's amazing that you didn't see the garratt,38 and 36 there.
We were running a projector and the image was probably 6 feet wide, not to mention the stereo system with subwoofer puttig the vibrations into the wooden floor.
If you missed the images surely you heard them.

Yes i saw the 38's and 36's at hurstville, but they were only showing passing shots of the locos..

You could have stopped and asked to see a cab view as i don't know how many people asked to see.
We did try to alternate the views as much as possible but unfortunately Matt
had to return to Junee urgently and I had a voulenteer helping out for the last two days.
Next year come and introduce yourself.
We don't bite.
Actually we have met heaps of people up there on the road as to say and
Matt and I can say that we had a ball and wish to wish ALL of them a merry-xmas and a good new year.
Cheers
Ian

I am very impressed with the quality that team alco have put into all their models and would like to say well done. Especially with the AD 60, superb and a million miles away from the first version released ions ago. I am sucker for garratts and am very impressed.

That a real good screenshots of the cabs Yuri.

With the 38 cabs, You should make a good snapshot of inside the 3801 cab.

I know Joseph spinella had done it. coz I reckon the new updated one would be good.
