Two nice sightings for me at Central today - the first, whilst I have seen it a few times before, I never had a photo of - being the only V set nose livery I didn't have a pic of (blue/yellow stripes) ... probably got it just in time too:
Then finally I saw an MZ in the flesh - with numberboards to boot!
Dunno why it was there - maybe clearance testing before tomorrow's tour? They were just running it back and forward ...
A pity I only had the phone with me - better than nothing though.

I would guess crew familliarisation for 3801 Ltd blokes for tomorrow's trip down the coast. I doubt IRA would be providing (or indeed have) crews for working a passenger train to Kiama. I also doubt if any of the '01 Ltd drivers would have been previously qualified for MZ's. There would have to be some ground instruction at some point and this could well be it in progress.

Good point - I had assumed crew would come with the loco, but it does make more sense that would be the reason ... I wonder how they like the steering wheel?

Deviating from the Helga posts, we past Cs4(?) light engine on the up on Singleton bank at about 04:50 this morning. When we got to Muswellbrook, there was a container train stowed in the yard (minus loco). Anyone know where the C class went?
