I'd say they're clearing out the old carraige sheds and its surrounds for its new owners, and probably Eveliegh as well to make way for development... But I could be wrong.

If this is true, I'd rather see this than the whole lot moved south to Woop Woop & the black stump. At least Chullora is close to the geographical heart of Sydney, in the middle of heavy industrial area and easily accessible. There is also a lot of empty land there, so less likelihood of pressure to redevelop.

The challenge now is to secure PERMANENTLY the area, no more leases etc. The govt can make some small concession to their historical barbarianism at Eveleigh by making the Chullora site a permanent rail heritage museum.

SAVE EVELEIGH! Once the largest industrial complex in Australia. The Smithsonian Institute described Eveleigh as “the most important historic railway workshops remaining in the world

Where is the asbestos there?

the remaining r/h walls are brick, & the roof was redone in currogated iron some time back>

According to one arial photo I have of the place, the worst I can see there is the 2 round green slime lakes.

If the NSW govt owns the stuff at Thirlemere, why not bring it all to Chullora, too. At least it would be almost in the heart of greater Sydeny, as said above, and fairly accessible from F,lemo and Campsie BY TRAIN when they realise the potential and connectedness of the site.

As far as HET is aware we are in Carriage works till the end of next year. When we have to move it will be a large job due to the large quantity of spares and equipment. Railcorp also has a large amount of heritage equipment that will need to be moved.
