But isn't the Vic/SA loading gauge slightly different? I thought that was one of the given reasons 621 (and other SA steam) couldn't come all the way into Melbourne when the BG was still open.

SA is wider than Vic and Vic is slightly higher than NSW. But that's got nothing to do with the DRCs, which ran in Vic and NSW.

Cheers

Oops. Misread a few postings at the same time and thought the Bluebirds were being referred to, not the DRC's. Embarassed

The Bluebirds fit within the Vic loading gauge. Were they made narrower than usual SA stock because they were to run on former ng lines? The Red Hens also fit in Vic.

If it were possible, I would love to own a DRC railcar.
They are really cool, Epecially the DRC43 at SRHC! The classic V/line livery is my favourite, that's why i like it. so I might take a trip to Daylesford and give it a go. Here's a link to Martin Benett's website with pics of DRC43.

like in clyde, a tram is in someone's back yard, so someone must have accuired (typo  Smile ) it from a tram company. but like as ssj said, the Phillip Riddett guy owns them but dosen't use them. so what's the point in him keeping them..... Confused
Anyway, it's just a thought.  Wink
cheers.

I am sure we had a thread like this on before hand. Going back a few posts. Yes Westpac has got the DRC's cause the person who supposed to have them didn't continue in the repayments plans so that is why the DRC's are in the bank's control and it is going to be worth more than $10 (sorry for your bad news. lol...)

Both DRC's (DRC 41 and 42) at East block Newport can't run together as they are two different DRC sets. if it was DRC 40 and 41 they can run together or if they are DRC 42 and 43 can run together but not 40 and 42 nor 41 and 43 nor 40 and 43.

There was comments made by one of the Elecrail guys thinking of getting one of the DRC from East Block to have restored and run on selelcted trips that would meet up with the other DRC's but that is still in the pipeline dreams stages at the moment.

I would like to see the two DRC at East block run again but that is something that I just have to wait and see what will happen with them in the future.

You have no idea what DRC's are really like do you. Spend more time in the shops than in service.

Do you have absolute proof of this because the above statement could be seen libelous from where I stand!

Are you stating that you heard something else? As the people from the other side of Newport Workshops have stated that the bank has got them as assest. Plus it has been well known for few years now that Westpac had got them. Just wondering on what you heard that is different?

I think they are just auto couplers, so it wouldn't take much at all

I'm guessing the control signals are incompatible.

On vicsig it says 41 & 42 are owned by the DERM group?
