The EZ grain has just gone through Ballarat to somewhere beyond. Very noisy indeed from some kilometres away from the line (though it is a very still night).

3VL51 made it's revenue debut as a late replacement unit for the 1703 down Ballarat service.

From the conductor: "Apologies for the delay in leaving passengers as we've had to wait for this unit st ...

A question if I may (assuming I'm asking in the right place):

Quite often I see twin XRs through Ballarat hauling 40-odd grain hoppers however tonight there was a H class & BL class hauling onl ...

I see from Gheringhap Loop's sightings that Y112 accompanied the D3 this morning on the journey to Newport.

Is it to be used for suburban shuttles or is it off for maintenance?

What time was it supposed to depart, and what time did it depart?

I can only answer part of your question based on the V/Line timetable.

The DOWN service to which the OP is asking is meant to de ...

Does this mean the Maryborough service patronage is above or below expectations?

Can Y112 actually leave the SRV shed at the moment with all the works going on in the yard?

I had a quick look at the site this morning as my train whizzed by and couldn't see any sign of the track ...

The reason I am thinking this is that the current closure includes maintenance work on the whole line, all the way to Bendigo and Ballarat. If this work is successfully completed, I see no reason to c ...

Vinelander,

If you re-read what I wrote, you'll see I'm not advocating a bus service over a train service. I was simply outlining that during this enforced shutdown (and any future shutdown for tha ...

I take back what I said earlier - Fire Fly coaches are the be-all-and-end-all of coach travel. Lots of leg room, a reclining seat (if the seat behind is unoccupied) and a relatively quiet engine too.

As I make my way home on a 4.30 bus, I've no real complaints. The pre-6am bus (shudder!) only took 80-odd minutes into Melbourne. The loading & unloading at Ballarat and SCS was very smooth.
