They were closures to fill in the gaps between the rail's after cutting out the joint's and sliding the rail along to meet up with the rail it was origonaly plated to, the farmer's r ...

As stated the sections of rail put in there are known as closure's and also to replace the battered end's of the existing rail that are already there.

There are two reason's for one of the closure' ...

With the Mildura line over my back fence while living in a D.R. in Ballarat from the early 70's to the early 80's, ive seen the Donald service run with all type's of thing's.

S 303, T 342 & i think it is T 369 as well on the Ballast train's operating in push/pull mode on the Echuca line for the last couple of day's between Rochester & Goornong.

Not Goornong, Locksley, Rochester, Eaglehawk or Elmore..

It is a broad guage track and the pic was taken only a few week's ago.
