I would not think it was uncommon to be a 20-50 or even 60 year old commuting to work if they were riding on a road, or park or in the CBD but riding on a rail station platform seams a little odd.

But I don't know why a 47 year old was riding a push bike.

Go to any bike path in the AM peak and you'll mainly see 20-50 year olds commuting to work. I don't think ...

I noticed on Lygon St the other day that there's overhead illuminated signs and "merge left" arrows in operation for the part-time tram lane to help keep the lane clear.

Agreed, but with the Vline "farebox" covering less than 20% of the operating cost an additional 3% per year above inflation will not buy much.
However, it is better to increase fares in "real" terms ...

Nothing we haven't heard before but nice to keep the trains in the news and try and bring some accountability to any or all of the players involved.
