I would not think it was uncommon to be a 20-50 or even 60 year old commuting to work if they were riding on a road, or park or in the CBD but riding on a rail station platform seams a little odd.

But I don't know why a 47 year old was riding a push bike.

Go to any bike path in the AM peak and you'll mainly see 20-50 year olds commuting to work. I don't think ... |

I noticed on Lygon St the other day that there's overhead illuminated signs and "merge left" arrows in operation for the part-time tram lane to help keep the lane clear.

Agreed, but with the Vline "farebox" covering less than 20% of the operating cost an additional 3% per year above inflation will not buy much.
However, it is better to increase fares in "real" terms ... |
