I find an easier and cheaper way is to buy a pack of cork floor tiles from Bunnings and cut them into 3cm wide strips with a knife.  You can get 10 strips out of every tile, which equates to 3 metres  ...

Airfix make an Australian M113 fire support vehicle.  Unfortunately it's 1/76 scale, but not that much difference.

No, I haven't heard anything on my pre-ordered G Class either.

Surely there's an opportunity for one of our local small manufacturers to step in here and produce a range of cars to go on these wagons and also on layouts generally.  I was thinking of someone like  ...

Easy walk from the station.  5 to 10 minutes at most.

If you go for the strip lighting, check for the "luminous flux" or how many "lumens/metre".  Some are brighter than others.  I found a 920-980 lumens/metre strip of cool white and believe me, you don' ...

You can file the flanges down on Lima locos.  It's a pretty long tedious job, but it's quite easy to do.  I had a couple of locos that I did this to and it made them run a lot better over the Peco cod ...

Been experimenting a bit with mine over the last couple of weeks.  As delivered it weighed about 220g and was next to useless as far as pulling power up any sort of grade was concerned.  So I've added ...

Mine seems to work fine.  Tried it first on DC and have now installed the Loksound decoder. Runs very smoothly at all speeds.  Excellent model, looks and runs beautifully.

The postie dropped off my Walker railmotor this morning.  Great looking model, tested it on DC and seems to run really well.

If it is mounted in the fuel tank, I've found the magnet in the speaker can also pick up tiny pieces of metal/iron filings from along the track and this can have a crackling effect on the sound too.

I sent an email to Eureka a couple of weeks ago and was told that the factory said the R Class was about 6 to 8 weeks away.  They were talking about booking shipping space.  So going by that they shou ...

According to the BRM facebook site, they will have more first series T Class back in stock by the end of August, hopefully in time for the Caulfield exhibition.  No mention of the P Class though.

I had an outdoor HO layout at one stage. It was great in that I could have large sweeping curves and long straight stretches.  Built a nice garden for it to run through.  But the downside was that I s ...

Try a scrap metal dealer.  I bought a large sheet of lead from one about 20 years ago for a very reasonable price.  There's still plenty left and it'll last for many years to come.

I see there was a small reference to a "Transport Museum" in the election of The Melbourne lord mayor this wee, but little talk here. A workmate said I should be happy there is a museum to happen, and ...
