Train travellers get to see brothel
May 06, 2003
TRAVELLERS aboard the Indian-Pacific service between Sydney and Perth now have another attraction to see on their long trip.
Passengers will have the chance to tour the famous Langtrees 181 brothel,
which has been included in the Kalgoorlie evening stop.
The brothel has become one of the most well-known in Australia because of its outspoken madam Mary Anne Kenworthy, and Indian-Pacific guests can now take a 75-minute look inside.
Train operator Great Southern Railway said the light-hearted tour had proved popular.
"Interestingly, it's the women who really seem to enjoy the tour, and it's
proven to be a big talking point for the remainder of most journeys," chief
executive officer Stephen Bradford said.

There was in fact a Z-grade Australian movie about this called (I think) "Long warm nights on a slow moving train" about a prostitue who used to use the deluxe sleeper compartment of a DAM car on the Southern Aurora to get business in order to look after a sick relative?
The acting was worse than atrocius, no nudity (damn!), but the only thing of note was footage of candy 81's...

You Guys are right. 3 supposedly High Class hookers worked the Aurora.
one was called SUE, originally from Canberra. she was about a 38-24-36 c cup in those days.
I knew her from her Brother and Sister who used to let her" air it out " in the late 70s.
Last seen she was in Sydney.
another was Marie- a Red head, about a size 14, c cupper also. She is supposed to have died in early 90s.
They sometimes came up to the engines during changovers at Albury, but never boarded( well not mine any way).
The other one was Rose, an asian girl, but I never met her.
If you dont like all trains, no matter where from
- THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG

Ah memories.....
I was on the 'SEX' on night with a mate going to Sydney for work. There were some 'working girls' on the train and the Club Car seemed livelier than usual.
The next morning we noticed a broken window in the Club Car and I asked one of the crew what had happened....there was also a table missing. Apparently one of the girls had gone 'troppo' because someone broke into her cabin (maybe the aforementioned one in the DAM) and stole $4000 (allegedly). In her tantrum, she threw the table through the window.
The police were there on arrival at Central but I understand she was taken off much earlier.
This would have been about mid-87, IIRC.
I also have a Victorian Railways timetable from 1972 (5 cents) and it describes the special compartment in the DAM in terms like something a 1940's newsreel. I'll see if I can scan it and post it. It makes quaint reading now.
Cheers!
