What special carriages ever existed in Tasmania? Such as Vice Regal Cars, Dining Cars, Parlour Cars, and things like that. I can not find the history of any. Some picutres would be greatly appreciated

Jim Stokes wrote a very good series of Articles in the ARHS Bulletin about passenger carriages of the TGR.

Working backwards in time, the ACS and AAR cars (plus the Artic DPs) had small buffet compartments that satisfied most trains. There was a dining only car that was converted from a side door car to supplement the steel AARs. Lost in the great carriage shed fire of 195?/196?.

The L&WR and TMLR both had purpose built special cars, and I think the TGR special car/cars were ex TMLR bogie vehicles. There was at least one - not sure if it was called ministerial or inspection or special or some other name. The Stokes article tell its full story (Feb and March 1991 for the TMLR cars).
