Does anybody have any pics before or after? Preferebly before... Preferebly before yellow livery, but anything I guess.. I have only seen 2 after shots... one of it's rebirth as EM60 & one on its belly covered in grafitti.

I take that as no one.... Don't know if it was just me.... but did anyone evr notice louder MU's in car 205.... think back to well before the accident.. maybe ive just too much time on my hands.. maybe i like EMU too much Wink

Probably both. I think its strange seeing set EMU60, partly because of the way the set looks. If you notice on the top of the train, the older part is a flat style with the maroon line and the newer part is corrugated with the line.

yer i noticed that from a pic, and the new bandicoot... gosh i cant stand bandicoot design... maybe i'll wake up and they'll go back you yellow.... or even grey like they were originally! *Wishes*

I actually rode on the fateful EMU 60. I was a little apprehensive though. The bandicoot design looks pretty poor, I reckon they could have come up with some other design.

there was nothing wrong with the yellow decal... if they want to change... maybe go uniform .... do something like SMUII

You might be getting set 62 and set 60 mixed up.

IIRC, it was sets 05 and 60 that were involved in the Petrie Derailment a few years ago (including 3906).

As a result of this derailment, all of set 05 - except EM105 - was destroyed, while EM160 was also destroyed, so EM105 became part of set 60, hence becoming EM160

around the same time as this accident, an EMU was set alight by thugs, anyone know what unit it was, and its fate?

I can't remember the unit number off of the top of my head, but the unit was returned to service.

i can tell you for a fact that im not confusing the two of them. EM62 was involved in the arson attack - proof at QIRG http://www.qrig.org/modules.php?name=MotivePower&page=display&class=emu i was on EM162 just after i posted the thread and if it is not all of EM205, it would have to be most of its parts - it has the top windows like the early EMU sets (the type with the circle knob thing) and in the EM162 only, it has the red doors released sign, again a characteristic of the early EMU sets

aaah... i get you there... EMU62 was the fire victim, and EMU05 & EMU 60 were the cattletrain victims.. that was a bad year.. so theres 87 EMU's operational now?

Were there anything else serious other than the tridner park incident in 85?

EMU011 is back in service after the derailment in 1985.  Carriage EM111 took the brunt of the impact when the two trains collided.  I have several photos of both the train, and the damaged carriage as they are today, so I will see if I can find them.

EMU011 is now wearing the Bandicoot livery being (un)systematically applied to EMUs as they're refurbished.  If I remember correctly, the State Government allocated $60 - $70 million in their 2004-2005 budget for QR to refurbish the aging EMU Fleet.  As some were in desperate need of repair, QR probably decided to refurbish some out of numerical order.

Cheers,

It hard to absorb the EMU as "an aging fleet" it doesnt seem that long ago that they were being rolled out across the network!!

It wasnt that long ago when the Mk 2 SMUs were introduced progressively into the suburban fleet.

Cheers.
