I lived in Launceston for 9 years and chased a few trains in that area. I thought of it at the start of the quiz, but it didn't look right when you've never been on that piece of track - let alone out the front of the train. Good quiz picture. If a few mm was shaved off the left side of photo it could easily pass for somewhere down the EBR.
Someone else can put up the next question. I've got an archeological photo which will take some finding (no pun intended).

Well, this quiz has stalled somewhat. So here's something to get it moving again.
Where did I take this photo?

well, i am sure one day one of these will just jump out of the screen at me and i will be able to say "yes! i know exactly where that is!" that day is not yet upon us.
however, my guess...

Very nice guess. It is at Fingal. I won't pretend to know exactly where. But I think it was a little east of the station towards the coal loader. I'd just got off the second loco (Z1) after cab riding from Conara Jcn early one morning.

Hmm, is it along the Tea Tree Road, past Tea Tree crossing, on the way to Campania ?

Sorry for the delay. My picture is with relatives who are away in Qld for a while.
That last quiz pix looks like Sisters Hills (wild guess)

Coal Mine Bend, heading up the hill between Colebrook and Rhyndaston (or more accurately between Mud Walls Rd crossing and Rhyndaston Rd crossing).
If it was Y2 heading the train, I'd say it was stopped due to overheating rather than a photo stop.

absolutely 100% correct. and you get brownie points for the overheating comments - although at this point the stop was only for a few seconds to give the locomotive a rest, but somehow it managed to die before the tunnel.
over to you stu.

Must be southing about that post. M5 stopped there a couple of years back due to a clinkered fire, and it would have been about 50m furthur on (so we pushed back clear of the trees and had a photo stop)
Ok, another installment in my stations and siding series. Photo need not be taken by me, and it may not be recent.

Geographically, Damien is a lot closer than David, but both are still on the wrong track so to speak.
