Yup, sure is. In fact, about where that carpark is off Terminus Street, just behind the offices. I have an aerial photograph taken up Sydney Street from atop of the silos, circa 1965, turntable was still in place then.
Unfortunately, it's not just Cobram Development. The Shire actually wants to remove the sidings. How rediculous. It's hard enough to get services returned, let alone construct entirely new stations.
Cobram's already going to have a 'green belt', when the channel is filled in this year. That's all they can do with the reserve. And extend Dillion Street. Perhaps the Shire should look at fixing problem intersections before putting more in. i.e.the Terminus, Bank Street and Punt Road intersection for a start, then the tee at Punt Road and High Street...
Petition might be a good idea, I'll definately look into it when I get home in four weeks or so.

Cobram Development thats them. I think they are crazy to pull it all up, especially when all the lights and signs etc are still up and working. The only way the line would really be open is if it was bought privately and used as a touristy thing, which would be a problem seeing its only a straight track of 17 or so k's. I believe it would improve Cobram, Strathmerton, Numurkah and possible Tocumwal if they opened it. Development here is going nuts!

Tocumwal is a container terminal, and on the Newell Highway. Trucks must terminate at Tocumwal and return north. Freight trains then transport the containers to Melbourne. There is no freight out of or into Cobram. Plus, for when the season permits, Tocumwal has quite large grain handling facilities.
