I've been informed by Mr. Anon, that the 43 has departed Junee to head up to Dubbo via Harden at 1800 last night on a short goods train. It's rumoured that it will be stopping in Orange for servicing, and the local chargeman has been requested by a couple of local railfans that it head up on a goods train with an 0800 departure time from Orange.

Hopefully the weathers sunny when it goes. Watch this space for photos tomorrow some time.

Mr. Anderson... surprised to see me?

Hi 4306 was seen in multi unit with 4010 departing Junee yard with a goods bound for Orange. The 43 class is the only loco other than another 40 class that can be multiunited with a 40 class due to electrical differences and required a special jumper cable for this purpose.

It will be interesting to see what the drivers at Orange think of this new fangled loco. Knowing what the drivers are like they won't be happy.

Cheers

Well, the 43 made it to Orange, and from the crew's report, it handles well. The 40 class made it as far as Cowra before we had a rather nasty problem with "a clunking noise comeing from the engine bay" Fitters in Cowra tell us it should make it to Orange in a few days.

As for the 43, it departed Orange on time with a reduced load for Dubbo.

The 43 has coupled to the short goods train in Orange yard. The crew are waiting for the guard to test the brakes, and we should be off for Dubbo in a few minutes. We can see in the background 4503 shunting the Bulk wheat Terminal.

4306 is just south of Orange station, and is passing the fruit siding and the mill on the right hand side of the picture, just out of frame.

4306 is seen here on the northern outskirts of Orange with the goods train. The photographer was lucky at this point to have scrambled up a telegraph pole to get this shot, as the 43 hadn't yet got up to speed from the 40km/h speed restriction passing the oil siding just past the station.

4306 passes Cullya station

The train is seen between Mullion Creek and Kerrs Creek.

A short scramble from the car down a dry creek bed, dodging the brown snakes in the long grass, the photographer was able to get this shot. He was heard to say later "It could have been a worse shot, but it could have been better than it was".

There will be a few more photos posted from the trip in a few days. I think we have to take our intrepid photographer and get him a good stiff drink after he dodged those few snakes north of Mullion Creek.

At the risk of being labelled a "gimmee pig", is it permissable to ask if and when these great looking 43 and 47 classes are going to be released for general consumption???

What was the dirvers opinion of the new fangled loco's, and more importantly have they agreed to its use out west or not.

Have the fitters at Cowra fixed the 40 class or have they raised their hands in failure and sent it back to Junee for repairs?

Cheers

the 43 has perfomed well but the 40 class has been hauled dead to Junee
for the fitters to check the electricals out.
The boss says that we will be seeing more of these so our blokes better get used to working on them.

Our intrepid photographer is turning out to be a bit of a Uber Gunzell.
Everywhere the 43 class is seen on its load trails on the central west division he turns up.
The blokes at the pub have told us that the Nsw coffers are richer as he has been booked by the coppers for speeding on more than 2 times.
The crews are now racing him making him earn his photos.
here is the results of his latest quest.

Great shots Ed!!!

All those speeding tickets, and he isn't even to Wellington yet!! I've heard it rumoured that the loading will be increased at Wellington, and perhaps Geurie as well. There's a few NGTY's sitting at the silos ready to be picked up and taken to Dubbo for the evening freight to Werris Creek. It should at least give our intrepid photographer time to get ahead of the train in a more leisurely fashion.

Hey Big-Ed.
Better ring Ron up as the Junee crew rang the cops when they first spotted him in the bushes .
Last we heard the blue lights were chasing him the other side of Bethungra.
