Hi have been asked to put some screenies up of a route that i am currently beta testing for a good friend of mine who wishes to remain anon.
This route i have been told is based in southern NSW and is built on Dem with the distant mountains enabled..
This is a work still in development..

very timely Big_ed. Impressive bit of modelling there.

If I could do a MSTS route it would have to be Wodonga - Yass with the Temora branch, the old Junee branch etc. I did think better ( 0% skill.experiance) and would prefer to try to start with somehting looking similar to Cootamundra - Temora, but being freelanced as I would not be able to do it correctly. But I have never go into the modelling side and probally never will.

Good work there.

Mr. Anon has done a spectacular job, as I believe I told him at one point before. Bethungra's coming along nicely.

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing how Albury and Junee are coming along. Wink

Hi I was having a great time working the stock special its a nice sunny day
a bit hot though.
The 47 classes started to pack it in on the climb out of Junee
"Lousy buckets of crap" sooner they send these back to Bathurst the better off we will all be!

Looks like we will have to wait for the daylight.

Damn things havent cooled down yet The hot engine alarm is still ringing
I bet the crew on the Down goods are laughing their Guts out.

About time we got going! Now if we can just make it up the spiral and the frampton deviation we just might get to Cootamundra yet and still get time for dinner before we change over

Ed, don't send the 47's back to Bathurst, they're having issues on the Central West line too. We had a couple of them on the Dubbo Mail the other night. 4714 failed just out of Wellington, and 4711 packed it in not long after. We had to send out 4539 to rescue them both and drag them back to Orange, where 8126 took over. The 81 was being trialled on the Central West, and seemed to perform well, but it doesn't have the character that the hood units do.

Last I saw, the depot crew were standing around the two 47's, scratching their heads and wondering how they were going to get them working well enough to send them to Bathurst, or at least what train to attach them dead to. I gather from your photos that they managed to solve their problem.

Ed, if you could pass my congratulations on to our anonymous friend on his efforts, both with the route, which looks spectacular, and the 47's, which perform much better than the real things.

Well done to all concerned.

Evil or Very Mad Well its taken over one and a half hours to get to Frampton with alarm bells ringing all the way.
Train control has arranged for a relief loco to assist us over the deviation
and into Cootamundra.
AHHHH NOT ANOTHER 47 we will never get home at this rate.
Has anyone got a match Lets have a Bonfire and do away with them once and for all.
I cannot understand how they can waste good paint on these candy crap boxes. Evil or Very Mad

4720_4701_Frampton (Railpage Image Gallery)

Oh well seeings as its the first one i have seen in candy I may as well get a photo of it.
With the unreliability factor of these 47 Caterpillar motors i dont think we will see much more of these on the Southern Main.

We haven't seen the Candy ones out west yet. It's probably only a matter of time before they make their way out there. 4720 still looks freshly painted, so it can't have been out of the shops very long. Besides, if you want to talk about overheating, wait 'til you see what happens to a 47 on a hot February day when it gets out by Dubbo.

As far as the match is concerned, wasn't that sort of what happened to either 4709 or 4710? One was in an accident, and I'm pretty sure the other just melted into a puddle of goo somewhere around Tumulla.

Performance issues aside, you have to admit, the 47 is one of the best looking locos of NSW that isn't a 42 or 421.

Thanks for sharing the new screenshots. Can't wait for the next installment.

Just thought I'd show a couple of shot of the 47's north of Molong the day before they crapped out on the Mail Train. They look great in their natural setting, so if you don't like them on the south, feel free to send them back west. We don't necessarily like how temperamental they get in the heat, but we are used to repairing them by now.

Firstly, we have 4701, 4714 and 4910 heading a mixed freight north to Dubbo from Orange between Larras Lee and Apex Loop.

The same train is seen here between Cumnock and Yullundry. The 47's had to wait at Apex Loop and cross a southbound cement train with 4539 and 48116 at the head.

WOW ! - Great looking route and 47's.

Thanks for sharing this Big_Ed. Please pass on to Mr Anon that I think it all looks great. I was beginning to think that any development work for MSTS had just about stopped - the forums have been very quite lately!

Has the route got a name ?

Yep, 4709 burnt itself out. IIRC the lube pipe to one of the turbos came adrift and caused the oil to pump directly into the main alternator which ignited. The engine was not shut down and continued to pump oil into the fire. The fire extinguishers on the loco and the guard's from the brake van weren't of much help.

The burnt out frame/hulk sat outside at Cardiff Workshops hidden under a tarp for quite some time.

It was said (in a poem by Ron Preston) that 4709 was "the best of the line".

Matt A should be pleased, he doesn't have to even get in the car to see heavy freights climbing Bethungra! Very good look a-like there of Bethungra actually. I was there only recently and wow, nice!
