When do the oilys run, where do they depart from usually and where is a good photo spot. I understand that they are usually Xs on the oilys, but is this sometimes varied? Do they sometimes stable? As i spotted an X with a whole heap of wagons stabled underneth the railbridge near the Shell place in Fyshwick last week.

Also, is there anything worth seeing at the ARHS-ACT museum in Kingston for someone of a victorian background?

The oil trains depart Sydney on Mon?Wed/Fri night, arriving in the wee small hours. You can see the shunting at Fyshwick in daylight if you're there are the right time.

Motive power is usually a pair of Xs but sometimes you can get other locos, such as an 81 or 48s. ELs used to be common.

You can usually see the empty oily sitting in No.2 road at the station in the late afternoon. The empty detarts Canberra around 17.45, or when the Xplorer has cleared Queanbeyan. Good photo spots are Fyshwick, Queanbeyan and on the road to Bungendore, but not much use at this time of year as it's dark by then.

It's all interesting! Unfortunately the ex-Victorian VFW has been moved to Junee. Plenty of stock which ran into Victoria in regular service, e.g. ex-Southern Aurora cars (including the RMS previously owned by WCR) and RUB cars (some ran on the ICD).

Other things worth seeing are the Hunslet in the war memorial and the trams at Dickson Tradies.

Cheers
David
