As of Apirl,1,2004,the Teito Rapid Transit Authority has a new start as Tokyo Metro
Co., Ltd.(Tokyo Metro).

Thus Far, our mission was to construct and operate subway lines in and around Tokyo, as the subway has proved an effective and important mode of public transportation.
With the completion of Line No.13, which is to be the last line we construct, we will have achieved our mission for expansion and improvement of the metro network. Our new perspective is to focus on metro operation, and dedicate ourselves to improving and maintaining safe and stable operations.

A new approach has been adopted in light of our goal of transforming ourselves into a private company, both in name and in reality, by achieving an early listing on the stock market, and eventually complete privatization.
One part of the approach emphasize that we be “customer oriented”. We aim to grasp customer’s needs more accurately, in turn enabling us to provide more convenient and user-friendly services so that we will be the metro that customer choose to use. Another theme in the new approach is “self-sustaining management”. We must operate business based on economic rationality based on our own discretion. This approach will serve in our continuous efforts in establishing a sound management foundation.

Tokyo Metro, along with its group companies, will develop its business, with railway business at the core. We support the urban function and vitality of the Tokyo Metropolitan Area, based on the new corporate concept, “Power to Make Tokyo Run”. At the same time, by consistently introducing latest, superior technology, we will provide safe and comfortable service, in order to contribute toward the lively everyday life of people who gather in Tokyo.

We sincerely appreciate your continuing support for Tokyo Metro.

HISASHI UMEZAKI
President
Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd.
