EMU 068 (PURD #20) was sighted in the consist of a sweeper freight lead by QR 2818 this morning at Campbell Street, Bowen Hills (Brisbane, QLD).  Should arrive in Perth, WA in the consist of WP2 steel train on Wednesday, 6 July, 2005.

In the pouring rain at EDI on Sunday I saw ...
EMU 068 in Maryborough Yard
EMU 070 in the EDI Decal Shed

I'm sure EMU 069 was in the EDI Testing Shed, but I couldn't see it!

My photo's thus far ...

WP2 comes in to Forrestfield any where between 0600 and 1200 depending on how it's running.

I do hope they don't turn these into cattle trains in the future, and I hope they return the old trains to the former seating arrangements.

Dont put your house and wife on the idea that they will turn the A's back into regular seating!  On the short haul lines (Midland, Freo, Armadale) , you can fit more people side on.  Take into account, these lines only fit 4 car sets, where the Clarkson and Mandurah lines can have 6 car sets.

They will not put the seats back to the original configuration, these are trains that are used for mass transport, you are only in the train a short time, and they can fit more peopel on.  We have been told many complaints have gone into Transperth but they are going to stay the same, so do not exspect it what so ever.

I remember reading somewhere some time ago that TransPerth had an option on a further 10 units after the initial firm order for 31 units. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Yeah, they still have the option, but wont use it until the Mandurah line is running smoothly.   Set 89/90! Very Happy

Before the WA gov came up with the name "New MetroRail" it was called Perth urban rail development which involved all the new developments that are going to occur as part of the new metrorail project.

Thanks a lot Matt and WA Railways! Smile

To kill off another rumour people have been saying about Set 65 and 66, the one saying TransPerth are locking them up and keeping them in prestine condition for the Thornile opening...its not true! Wink  I had Set 65 on the 1716 ex-Perth tonight.  And could have sworn I saw Set 66 speed through Joondalup around 1515hrs towards Perth way.
  warailways Chief Commissioner

I absolutely agree about Transperth not locking up the B sets. This morning i was traveling on B set 53 and it was stopping at all stations to perth from Clarkson which was the first B set service i have seen or been on going from Clarkson to Perth.

Someone has been throwing rumours around the place that August 7 will be the date of both the opening of the Thornlie line and the invasion of the Northern Suburbs line by B sets.  Nothing confirmed about the B set invasion from PTA/TransPerth, but it would seam a logical day to do it.

Currently, Set 49 through Set 68 are hanging around up at Nowergup, with 69 and dare-i-say 70 on the way soon!  Thats an awful lot of sets to be running Whitty shuttles during the day!!  Laughing
  warailways Chief Commissioner

Location: Perth
Just to add some more info All the LED Destination Boards are on the Northern Line are already set for services just to Perth as soon Armadale/ Clarkson service will stop and trains would then only terminate at Clarkson, Whitfords and perth.
