2011 was the opted shunter at Boyer today, and i noticed that the derailer which sits just up from Boyer has been pushed back to the other side of the rail bridge.

As many might of heard, the QR loco is no longer captive on the Melba line, its been out sight seeing!

So, with the arrival of train 35, i got the old "point and shoot" digi out, poked it though the fence and got this gem(?)

Yes, the QR at speed!.

Also, the MKA had a nice notice on the front, someone has rubbed into the dirty paint work "4 SALE"

As previously mentioned trains 731 and 735 have been leaving burnie as one combined train of late having 6 or 7 locos on the one train. However I think they are tinkering with it agian. Yesterday (17/5/0Cool 735 came into Devonport around 16:30 where she stayed in the yard for around 45 mins (probably meal break).

She had the usual loading for a train 35 but also a small amount of papertain loading. Didn't get the number of wagons, but there were only three locos hauling it. They were two DQ's and the QR, not all the locos from 632 and 636.

Will keep and eye out tonight for 135 as they may have put most of the papertrain loading and the other locos on this.

135 just trundled through Devonport at 1645hrs. Wish I had heard her coming before it got to my house, because as I suspected they had held over the extra locos in Burnie till today. Had ZP, DQ, DQ, D, MKA,MKA,MKA hauling 27 loaded wagons and two empties. Looked pretty impressive.

I notice that a QN wagon here in Burnie is now a shunters flat for Y2150 shunting the concentrate wagons.

Anyway, had a very good week so far, to top things off, my favorite locomotive was in Burnie for the day. So, took a few images of it in the late winter sunshine.

I would really love this light pole to be removed Twisted Evil

Z2110 at Burnie station. Its 13 year old paint is starting to look shocking, you can see patches of brown primer. Can't imagine this unit in PNT colours.

Oh, notice on the front bogie, Z2110 has had two traction motors replaced. Well, i notice two red covers.

Great photo's Damien,
I manage to find myself in those "problem" positions with the rouge Light pole or Power pole finding their way into the middle of good photo's.... Sad
Ohwell,
Do you have any pictures of this "Shunters Flat" in use?

Nathan

A couple of photo's from a well known Victorian photographer, interesting to see the early shot of the railcar.

Its not so much a 'shunter's flat', more a spacer wagon to stop people running the Y into the tippler when tipping the ore train.

At Glenorchy, seen all 4 Zs on one train(166?). Even PN had a nice formation with Z2110-Z2113-Z2111-Z2112 a few wagons loaded and a handfull empty. The train was about 1:15ish this arvo.

EDIT, Z2110 comes into the seen. I should point out, nearly missed this shot, banged the head on a carriage, the one in front of M5 i think!.

And, someone doesn't know how to put the engine room doors back on properly, look on the green data panel on Z2111

Train 1-64 to Boyer. 1-66 ran much later (c. 1500 - 1700h) and is rarely if ever run at the present time.

Not so much an unusual sighting, but one from a different spot, DV1, the trojan horse, preparing to leave for Railton.
