I don't know. Would look better in my view.
I'm not a fan of pristine steam locos. Clean is OK (but in service dirty is better), but not really glossy.

The usual. Members (i.e. working, lack of), money, too much to do - too little time to do it, yadda, yadda, yadda.......
Plus a little issue of not being able to operate......although, our stock is not currently in a fit state to operate even if we could.
Other than that, as long as our BEER SUPPLY remains constant , everything is PEACHY!!!

At least you guys at DVR actually admit your stock is not in a fit mainline standard. If only the people in charge at DRR would pull there head from there ^%$%'s and have a good look at our stock. Broken buffers, to small wheels under one carriage, rough riding in others and the list go's on.
But must focus all attention on getting out on the mainline, having safe rollingstock to use isn't important is it?

In some respects, the termination of DVR's operations was somewhat of a blessing in disguise. With so much work going into maintaining operations, little was being achieved as far as heavy maintenance goes and our locos and stock were virtually disintegrating around us.
With the operational "holiday" we have been able to get stuck into the long overdue heavy maintenance and what a little shop of horrors we are finding as we get underneath the skins of the vehicles!
The ACS's are getting some significant work to the framing and roof / bodywork areas (however without a proper carriage shed, we are chasing our tails somewhat). Additionally X18 is also having some serious structural work around the base of the cab and floor. Similiar work will be needed on X10, whilst X30 will virtually need a cab rebuild!
Hopefully when we get finished, our stock will be of a far superior standard than even when we started. Nowdays the public expect nothing less.

Spot on there Stuart, steam locos look better dirty, in fact I think all locos look better dirty. 2100 is a perfect exapmle.
CCS 25 is progressing slowly, the tender bogie is being overhauled. Everything else is pretty much as is.

Nice to hear Steve, DVR doing some work on there collection. Isn't it about time the yellow Xs get a TGR logo on the side?

Not presently. There isn't any point, as at the present time, getting H2 into steam would be a waste, with no line access and no carriages to haul.
However, once line access becomes available again and our high priority carriage and diesel restoration jobs are complete, all H2 needs is a couple minor welding jobs, a final steam test and re-assembly.
Actually H5, M1 and MA1 are being looked at now for some preliminary preservation work, primarily de-lagging and treatment of the boiler & fireboxes, to arrest further corrosion. Sounds simple enough, but considering whats under the cladding, that job will be far from simple and far from cheap!!

Stuart, a question for you!. When i was down at TTMS last Sunday, notice the name plate on Y4, has a green background, is this original, ie, when the name plates was brand new?

CCS 25? Christmas maybe, if we're lucky, probably later though. I cant say with real certainty though, cos I'm not involved with that job.

Ongoing Repairs for CCS 25
Trailing driving wheel axle box brasses cast, machined awaiting white metaling.
Trailing Coupling Rod bushes renewed.
Trailing driving wheel Axle pressed off wheels and machined.
Several crown stays renewed and riveted.
New smoke box baffle plates.
A 12 volt high pressure chemical dosing pump fitted.
Tender tyres being reprofiled.
Major repairs being carried out to tender bogie centre casting
Major repairs being carried out to tender bogie pivot pin.
Work to be done and not yet carried out.
Ashpan repairs
Washout plugs to be re tapped where necessary
Hydrostatic test
Boiler Inspection
Steam Test
