Thought i would start a thread with a bit of info about TR's around the state, feel free to post any news that you might have...

here is my contribution for now:

Don River Railway Y6, X4. work appears to still be going on with X4, Y6 however is finished although it needs a run on the load tank. this would have happened a while ago, except in the time that elapsed DRR aquired some dynamic brake equipment from NSW (a 44 class i think???) with the view of doing it themselves so to speak.

DynamicBrake2_Fan (Railpage Image Gallery)

Also in and about the Don workshops on sunday afternoon was the firebox for Redwater Creek's ongoing restoration of the Hunslet...
Hunslet_Firebox (Railpage Image Gallery)

and the Abt Locomotive D1 which has had a fair amount of work done to it including having the wheels turned (The DRR lathe has also been used by Puffing Billy Railway), fitting of compensating suspension and some other oddjobs.

thats about all for now,

Cheers,

JEFF

Do you have any info on steam loco CCS23? Last I heard, it was to go to the DRR shed at Inveresk. Smile

AFAIK CCS23 is still in the sheds at Don, will check on the weekend, the move to Inveresk has been thrown around for quite a while i think.

not a great deal on the steam front, although we have overcome the turmoil of a couple of months back where NO steam locomotives were operational.

M4 (i assume) will be used on the mainline trip to Burnie coming up in the next fortnight.

Just a quick update... all of the steam locomotives at DRR are once again, out of action.

Minor problems with M4, rail-regulator stuff is keeping the Fowler in the shed, and serious problems will see MA2 in the sheds for some time to come.

I am unsure as to what the problems with the other 'operational' steam locomotives are.

As a result V2 ran the Sunday services at Don, seemingly half-way through a repaint...

Other things aroudn the Don included No.8 making a return for 5 trips before breaking a spring, but all seems well now and the Dubs should be back in action on Boxing Day.

Merry christmas everybody! Drunk
