Was comming back form the ekka yesterday on EMU11. Found it odd as the train went into the tunnel about to head over the river, after pulling out of Roma St... heading under the neutral power section there. Usually the lights (some) go out... air con ceases, and the unit stops acceleration.... This time none of the above happened... Lights did nothing.... aircon was still on full ball.... and train continued to pick up acceleration all way through the neutral section..... same for the section just past Park Road, and again just past Lindum... what the..?

From my experience, the refurbed EMUs going through the neutral zones either just dims the light, or the lights remain on but the air con ceases. Varies on different refurbished EMU units.

Thats my point... everything stayed on as normal. including the throttle.... it really baffled me. It's as if all neutral sections have been removed.... i knkow they havent, but.. eh weird.

Also.... may just be me, but ive noticed more bandicoots than anything traveling on the cleveland line this last week.

Some of the EMUs still allow lights to be powered off batteries for 30 seconds when overhead power is lost, so that explains the lights... As for the acceleration through the neutral section, this is possible with a 6-car set. At neutral sections only one train looses power at a time, so can still accelerate with one of the units at all times. Drivers are supposed to coast through though.

As for the A/C... possibly just did not notice it re-start

This morning, but around 800am i saw EMU 15 and EMU 59 pulling into newmarket on its way to the city.

Isn't EMU 15 out of order???

QRNational's Container Train #MB7 arrives in Brisbane everyday of the week except Sunday and Tuesday. The train is timetabled to arrive at the same time every Thursday.

If you're interested in getting photographs in Brisbane (Acacia Ridge) during daylight hours, here is some information that may be helpful to you. The train is timetabled to arrive at Acacia Ridge at 11:29 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, it runs approximately an hour later and is scheduled to arrive at 12:36. Several different types of locomotives haul this service including CFCLA's EL Class and ex-Freight Australia G and X Classes.

I noticed that few people got on and off a few trains at Central the other day.... Rolling Eyes

The oddest sight I've seen was back in the early 80's, when QR would haul out the old wooden suburban sets for rush peak times. I was on the overbridge at Albion when one of these passed below with a broom on a coach roof. Left there by a cleaner I suppose. I beats me how it staed there. Could have been ther a fair while as this was late afternoon. Rolling Eyes

I was on a Ipswich - Ekka direct service via Normanby and could not believe the number of passengers who did not listen to the PA and ended up at the Ekka.
Most of them were Uni students I believe.I could tell this was going to happen from were I was siting it appeared hardly anyone was left on the platforms for the city service.
I miss the Ekka steam services.

Many moons ago, whilst waiting on the Corinda over bridge, an almighty bang ocurred below, where upon a lackadaisical Staation atttenant/ticket seller emerged to tell the startled public " Just those pigeons again" and sure enough, a denuded writhing pidgeon played out his last seconds on the track. Apparently , a lady bird on the o/h wire just under the structure, attracted a male suitor, who mounted said lady, then contacted steel structure , WHAMM !!!, out with a bang !

It's a while ago now, couple weeks back (cant remember the exact date), but i was on my way home from University at Ipswich.
Between Ipswich and East Ippy, we passed a blue 1702 (not sure of the number, closing speed was too fast) heading west, running light engine.
Then, between East Ipswich and Booval, 2 MKA loco's (running seperately as light engine units) went past us, also heading west...
Time was between 13:10 and 13:15

Thanks, Pete.

Another one:
Thursday 11th of August:
It was at 1500. I was driving towards Sherwood on Honour Ave., and there were cars lined up at the level crossing. I looked at my watch, and saw it was about 14:59, which is the time the Shorncliffe train was supposed to stop at Sherwood.
Coming along to a halt at the line of traffic, i saw an EMU sitting just on Corinda side of the level crossing. I thought that was a tad weird, but thought no more about it.
After a few minutes, i was starting to consider it more and more odd that the train had not come through. After sitting there for over 15 minutes (in which time, 3 trains should have passed through the station, none of which did), and after a number of (containing my language and rage here...) IDIOTS had driven around the boom gates, a couple railway workers turned up and opened the boom gates. (one car was attempting to go around the gates just before they were opened, so the driver of the EMU sitting just off the level crossing sat on his horn... which soon made the car driver change their mind and quickly reverse back behind the gates!)
So yeah, i still dont know what happened here, whether there was a total failure in overhead wiring or something like that that didnt allow other trains to pass through the section either, im not sure...
Thought that might be a bit interesting...

Thanks, Pete.
