I thought that many Railpage Australia™ Members might be interested in the everyday operations of QR CityTrain. If you observe anything at stations, on trains, etc. that you think may be of interest to others or that you thought was interesting yourself, feel free to post it here. Don't forget to include a date, time, location (and comment if you wish).

Let me start it off ...

Wednesday August 10.
8:30AM
Kuraby

Earth moving equipment is present, and a truck carrying a load of new heavy rails (at least 50kg/m) was seen turning into the access road to the carpark on the park/mosque side of the station. No idea what for - possibly re-laying the platform 2 road which is looking a bit worse for wear and has fairly light (80 lb/yard) rails?

Workers are also present on the up side of Beenleigh Rd level crossing, and appear to be installing new sound barriers along St Andrew St.

Yesterday on the 12:51 Corinda train from Central, the guard felt it necessary to inform passengers as we left Milton that the doors are opened by "the handles on the platform side doors, and not the red emergency buttons"

Must've had an incident in another carriage...

Tuesday 19/7/05 @ Roma St mid-morning.

A train to Ipswich had just departed platform #8 (I heard this from platform 5 while waiting for the next Robina service Very Happy )

The guy on the VAS said "the train next on platform 8 is the Ipswich... sorry passengers, this train has just departed..."

Obviously a rare case of bad timing... Embarassed

Kuraby, August 11. A large stockpile of concrete sleepers has now appeared, delivered early in the week according to my wife.

Construction of the sound barriers along St Andrew St is proceeding slowly with only two workers present this morning.

Sighted today ...

0945 - QR 2190 (QRNational)/1725D (Corportate) on The Sunlander #PC37 at Morayfield

1415 - QR 2132F (Long End leading) and one VAKM Coal Wagon at Albion

I also heard a new PA Announcement at Albion. "For your safety, please wait behind the yellow line on the platform."
