The south bound Rockhampton Tilt Train yesterday had to reverse at Caboolture towards Elimbah from platform 1 to platform 2 owing to a points failure on platform 1.

I was coming into Caboolture a couple of days ago and my eye caught sight of some sort of machine to do with the catenery. It went back down to Brisbane before I could get a good look at it.
Does anyone know what this machine is? It had one or two pantographs, and it resembled a standard locomotive. It had something like "Line Maintenance" written on it.

It is the QLD version of the ARTC AK recording cars. It travels the state recording all lines for future maintenance and other issues. The pantograph is used to record the overhead wires condition.

There is 300 metres of laid track on the Oxley to Darra third road project but no ballast. With the upgrade of Indooroopilly platform upgrade project concrete sleepers are being laid on the suburban lines.

In the underworld, fringe benefits can be tempting, but the redundancy package is distinctly unattractive. It is small, made of lead and arrives suddenly. You don't even see it coming.

Concrete sleeper replacement isn't new on the Milton-Darra stretch, they've been progressively doing it for the last few years. I'll have to slip down one afternoon after work with the camera and check the progress though

PNQ Intermodal #87P4 arrived into Brisbane this evening with two locomotives on the lead. Not sure what the numbers were though.

Was it 87P4 or 87P2 you saw on final approach to MBT? 67P2 departed WQX in Cairns behind 2 PN loco's on Sunday arvo.
Not trying to be picky here, just trying to work out if there was a loco swap between trains en-route. I was unaware of a loco swap scheduled in TVE between 67P2 / 87P2 and 87P4, but it doesn't mean it didn't happen though!
Cheers

Not sure on that one, I will check.
A truck also hit a boom gate at Telegraph Rd, Fitzgibbon earlier this afternoon causing delay on the Caboolture Line in the evening peak hour.
I spoke to a mate just now who said that there was an incident involving a truck and The Sunlander today. That's all I know ...

Happened between Purono and Kurukan! Truck ran into the side of the second loco (a 1720 Class), rupturing it's fuel tank. The loco was detached at Kurukan and a light engine sent from TVE to rescue the 1720.

According to a member of another rail group, it was #87P4 led by PN 009/011.
