Did you bring a video camera so that you could get some footage of this unusual movement? It is a pity that it is just a couple of hours too early for photography at 4:45am!
|
By the time I thought of the video camera it was too late.
There will be other chances to photograph 3800s on 243x.

I have recently purchased a Canon PowerShot A720 IS as a backup camera for my Canon 350D and took it out for a few snaps today. Here's one of an re-engineered/overhauled EMU; let me know what you think.

I saw 3715 on a low-loader at Bundamba yesterday at approx 5:30pm and it was still there at 7:30. The Boon Logistics rig was parked in the Warrego Hwy truck pulloff facing Brisbane.

QR 3715 went north on #8243 this morning with quite a few VCA Wagons.
In other news, an EMU derailed in 4 road at Mayne the other day. Tracks spread underneath it apparently ...

Aaat laaast. Worth the wait though. Pretty good for 'grab shots' by a non-railfan. Two of the photos taken by my daughter as we drove past at walking pace.

The new Robina to Nerang "down" track (down in the backwards QR sense of "up" of course) is in operation from today, meaning the duplication works are effectively complete. Everything has been hooked in at the southern end of Nerang and the temporary tracks have been completely removed. There are now no turnouts between the northern end of Robina and the northern end of Helensvale.
Some morning inbound trains were apparently running without signalling to Nerang and had to get authorities head further inbound - one (TP13 I think) converted to a Bowen Hills terminator running via Platform 6 at Central after running about 15 minutes behind for the whole trip.
Signalling is however supposed to be all sorted out for this evening.
Now, about that Coomera River bridge...

Aren't there the crossovers between Helensvale and Nerang? The Gold Coast Bulletin reported two new crossovers to be built on the line by next year to add some redundancy to the line.

You're quite right, I had forgotten those (in the vicinity of Gaven I think) - however, there are no turnouts in the vicinity of Nerang anymore.

Just uploaded a photo of QRNational Intermodal #5MB7 taken a few weeks ago when an SCT G Class first made an appearance in Queensland.
I got a pleasant surprise when it was selected as RailPictures Screener's Choice!
