Me too. I have used it a few times myself. It will be sorely missed.

True, but 'WTF' has a better impact.

I assume that 'OMFG' and 'JFC' get the order of the Rear End too.

I'm changing my full support to mostly supporting this.

I've got a small concern about one area, and that is the concept of "banned words". I think a list of words or acronyms which are verboten is arbitrary and unwieldy. Message board rules should operate at a much broader level than this. A complex list of three different levels "not permitted, "tolerated is small doses", and "to be used freely" is going to going to catch out innocent newbies, or regulars who use certain terms absentmindedly. I think, if an otherwise unblemished post has, for example, one usage of the word "wot", then that post should not be removed, and its author should not be hassled. On the other hand, the SMS-style posts should of course be pulled. Moderators should act more like judges and less like legislators, IMHO. The rules should be more analogous to common law than the statute variety. Discretion and willingness to interpret the rules is the hallmark of good moderation. Blind adherence to black and white rules is not good moderation.

Some black and white rules will always be necessary. There should not be a huge number of them, and they should be broad. My favourite one of these is from another board I visit: We have one guiding principle: Don't be a jerk. Brilliant. That board does have other, more specific rules, but you could near get away with just having that one. I've adopted it for my own board (except I changed the American "jerk" to the much more local "goose"), and I'd recommend it for this board.

Rather than endless argument over which slang should and shouldn't be permitted, why not just have "thou shalt type in accepted colloquial Australian English" and leave it at that?

Just my 2c.

My guess is what we are getting at is that SHOUTING will no longer be tolerated on this forum and the use of SMS/Chatroom English will be tolerated to an extent. And not before time.

Interesting. I was taught to use "&" as an abbreviation of "and" by my English teacher back in the sixties. It has been a legitimate abbreviation for a long time, just as "$" for "dollars" is. That's why it's been included on the keyboard of every typewriter "&" computer I've ever seen. Even the typewriter my mother used wich was made in the forties has got it. I think it should be removed from the "banned" list.
