I would be posting every day. I see at least 3 a day, sometimes 4, and usually catch 1 or 2 each week.

On Tuesday, there were 2 running services from Camberwell to the city about 240-2:51. 2 in a row Smile
I caught one! yay!

I noticed on Wednesday between 3:10 and 3:40 between Richmond and Surrey Hills every train was a X'trap, bar a comeng coming off the Alamein.

I think I've seen a Hitachi every day this week at Flinders in the evening peak. I even had the misfortune to ride one all the way to Werribee.

Connex always roll them out when the temperature exceeds 25 degrees!

I was driving home from work today and I saw one departing Ringwood at about 6:30pm heading for Lilydale (I think)

Now approaching Caulfield Station, passengers for the Rowville, Pakenham and Cranbourne lines, please change trains at Caulfield

The next station is Burnley, change here for services to Knox City

The 16.31 DOWN Blackburn from FSS was a Hitachi today. Interestingly enough it ran from platform 6! Yesterday, a Hitachi formed the 15.32 DOWN Alamein, and the day before that, the 16.12 DOWN Glen Waverley super express.

To be honest I do see them out and about quite frequently on the Belgrave / Lilydale lines doing peak runs. There have been a few occasions that a hitachi is stationary at Ringwood early in the morning (6:30am) ready to depart for the city as I drive past heading for work.

I would really like to catch one to Alamein or Glen Waverley one day soon though.

Without wanting to get too off topic, I don't really understand why Glen Waverley gets those two super expresses (at 16.12 & 17.23) full stop. They don't overtake the train before them (the 16.04 and 17.15 all stoppers), which means that even people for stations beyond Glen Iris will use the all stopper instead of the express. Secondly, Glen Waverley is not at all a long line (which is what expresses are normally associated with, e.g Hursty, Frankston, Belgrave)- and other lines of similar length, such as Upfield, Broady and Sandringham, never get any express trains. So why does Glen Waverley?

Anyway back on the topic of Hitachi sight Laughing ings!

I rode one yesterday to Belgrave on my way to Puffing Billy..

I had a Driver either was having a 'bad morning' or he simply doesn't like railfans..

As we terminated at Belgrave I took the honors of taking interior pictures of the front 'Motor' unit where I was sitting, then as the driver came out to 'change ends' he obviously saw what I was doing.. nothing incrimating

As he walked passed I gave him a warm railfan 'g-day' and he just walked passed without saying a word, some might even say he just snoobed me..

Meh..

I got my pictures, I can't complain! Very Happy

Well here's a sighting...

Hitachi set 7M-1979T-36M - 105M-1999T-178M ran the 1742 down Hurstbridge this evening. 178M was leading. A very nice ride with all the windows open too.

viva la hitachi!

With the new Siemens coming into service, the Silvers may not make it to the Commonwealth Games.
