Dear All

This afternoon I saw 2 sets running consecutive services on the Frankston line run by Hitachis, 17:24 up & 17:39 up.

The 17:24 up was run by M-T-M-M-T-23M

Kind Regards

Craig Smile

I saw another 4 today, one going the other way on my trip into the city, caught one in the loop on the Frankston line, saw another UP service whilst on the way home on Belgrave line, and one stabled at Ringwood. I know I should get numbers but I'm getting lazy in my old age!

Monday was a Hitchi bonanza for me:
The 07:40 up Epping was 37M-1979T-36M-105M-1999T-178M into work
The 18:21 down Hurstbridge was also 10M-1909T-21M-49M-1987T-196M
The 18:30 Epping was then 129M-1977T-179M-184M-1922T-57M

That's an attention-getter!

18:30 Epping? Surely you mean the 18:28 Epping? Laughing

It's been changed to the 18:30 Epping on PIDS last I caught it - JoM, this would be your domain here - has it changed recently?

Well, according to the timetables on both the Metlink and Connex sites it still leaves Flinders Street at 18.28. Could've been changed I guess though, and Connex and Metlink have yet to update their sites....

I only noticed the change last week, as normally I catch the 17:58 or 18:10 Eppings if I use that line to get home...

Just another small note ninthnotch: the 17.58 train that you refer to is actually at 17.57, because otherwise the 18.02 Hursty would have to run at 18.03 instead AFAIK Laughing Anyway, no biggie either way Laughing

Back on the actual topic, I didn't see any Hitachis today. Ominous....

Caught a Hitachi on the Lilydale line departing Lilydale at 9:48pm ... Didn't think I would catch another Hitachi this year considering I don't catch a train most days of the week now.

On 28/11/05 I caught a Hitachi to Greensborough which made the 5:29PM Hitachi, and caught it back to Eaglemont.

It's been changed to the 18:30 Epping on PIDS last I caught it - JoM, this would be your domain here - has it changed recently?

It has been temporarily altered in connection with the closure of platforms 13 and 14 at Spencer Street. Because of that platform closure, the down Bairnsdale train leaves from platform 8 (or 8 South) at Spencer Street to Flinders Street via the Clifton Hill/City Circle viaduct. However, this is at the same time that the 6:28 p.m. Epping would be using it. So the Epping train is run via the Burnley Viaduct, but there is a Burnley train using the viaduct at that time, plus there is some other conflict, so the 6:28 p.m. Epping is altered to run two minutes later. I expect that this will continue until about February.

I saw two hitachis within five minutes of each other this evening. The 18.50 DOWN Sandringham was a hitachi, as was the 18.55 DOWN Frankston.
