Is anyone else getting the impression from this thread that Hitachis aren't exactly as rare as many of us make them out to be?

Or is it just me?

Well they're more noticeable because we're all super-aware they're on the way out. That's how I explain it.

I have another 178 (M) reasons for you to be complaining. Same run as yesterday! I feel they will become more noticable because of a higher than amount of Comeng Air-Conditioner faults during the summer period.

Cheers, Lachlan.

I was under the impression they couldn't be run once the mercury hit a certain temperature because of their lack of air con? Maybe I dreamt that?

And 23M-T-M-M-T-M was doing the Sandy line again today. Was going to get a photo as I was waiting for it at the New St gates, but almost everytime I'm there lately I could take one... Not really very original or rare...  Neutral

You've got airconditioners fitted to Hitachis - they're called open windows.

Yes, the difference being that they can't fail. Well, not that often.  Wink

Got a nice shot of 37M (The Jetstar M car) near Eltham the other day...

Well, there's a M car floating around with half the windows jammed shut.

Half the windows are jammed shut on just about every hitachi car. Only fault in the design of them IMO, apart from the lack of A/C obviously.

Never really had a problem opening Hitachi windows, even when they appear jammed shut.  Most of the time it is jammed as the top half of the window is on an angle.  Simply push the window upwards until it is shut completely, then open it...  Besides, I'd rather be in a Hitachi with no a/c and windows that open than an Death'Trap/Sprogger with failed aircon or when someone's let rip with a monster fart or sitting next to someone who has not bathed recently.

I was referring to the latch of the window being seized up, not the actual window being jammed.
